[CodeGen] Use data layout aware constant folder in CGBuilder (#184819)
Use the DataLayout-aware TargetFolder instead of ConstantFolder in
Clang's CGBuilder. The primary impact of this change is that GEP
constant expressions are now emitted in canonical `getelementptr i8`
form. This is in preparation for the migration to ptradd, which requires
this form.

Part of the test updates were performed by Claude Code and reviewed by
me.

[Clang] Mark this pointer in destructors dead_on_return (#166276)
This helps to clean up any dead stores that come up at the end of the
destructor. The motivating example was a refactoring in libc++'s
basic_string implementation in 8dae17be2991cd7f0d7fd9aa5aecd064520a14f6
that added a zeroing store into the destructor, causing a large
performance regression on an internal workload. We also saw a ~0.2%
performance increase on an internal server workload when enabling this.

I also tested this against all of the non-flaky tests in our large C++
codebase and found a minimal number of issues that all happened to be in
user code.

[RemoveDIs] Print IR with debug records by default (#91724)
This patch makes the final major change of the RemoveDIs project, changing the
default IR output from debug intrinsics to debug records. This is expected to
break a large number of tests: every single one that tests for uses or
declarations of debug intrinsics and does not explicitly disable writing
records.

If this patch has broken your downstream tests (or upstream tests on a
configuration I wasn't able to run):
1. If you need to immediately unblock a build, pass
`--write-experimental-debuginfo=false` to LLVM's option processing for all
failing tests (remember to use `-mllvm` for clang/flang to forward arguments to
LLVM).
2. For most test failures, the changes are trivial and mechanical, enough that
they can be done by script; see the migration guide for a guide on how to do
this: https://llvm.org/docs/RemoveDIsDebugInfo.html#test-updates
3. If any tests fail for reasons other than FileCheck check lines that need
updating, such as assertion failures, that is most likely a real bug with this
patch and should be reported as such.

Reapplying without changes. The flang+openmp buildbot failure

This is a followup to https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/pull/93823

now left to the DataLayout-aware constant folder, which will fold
everything to a single i8 GEP.

We didn't have any test coverage for this fold in LLVM, but some Clang

[CodeGen] Simplify codegen for array initialization (#93956)
This makes codegen for array initialization simpler in two ways:
1. Drop the zero-index GEP at the start, which is no longer needed with
opaque pointers.
2. Emit GEPs directly to the correct element, instead of having a long
chain of +1 GEPs. This is more canonical, and also avoids regressions in
unoptimized builds from #93823.

[ConstantFold] Remove non-trivial gep-of-gep fold (#93823)
This fold is subtly incorrect, because DL-unaware constant folding does
not know the correct index type to use, and just performs the addition
in the type that happens to already be there. This is incorrect, since
sext(X)+sext(Y) is generally not the same as sext(X+Y). See the
`@constexpr_gep_of_gep_with_narrow_type()` for a miscompile with the
current implementation.

One could try to restrict the fold to cases where no overflow occurs,
but I'm not bothering with that here, because the DL-aware constant
folding will take care of this anyway. I've only kept the
straightforward zero-index case, where we just concatenate two GEPs.

3e25ae605e [Clang] Correct when Itanium ABI guard variables are set for non-block variables with static or thread storage duration.
Previously, Itanium ABI guard variables were set after initialization was
complete for non-block declared variables with static and thread storage
duration. That resulted in initialization of such variables being restarted
in cases where the variable was referenced while it was still under
construction. Per C++20 [class.cdtor]p2, such references are permitted
(though the value obtained by such an access is unspecified). The late
initialization resulted in recursive reinitialization loops for cases like
this:
  template<typename T>
  struct ct {
    struct mc {
      mc() { ct<T>::smf(); }
      void mf() const {}
    };
    thread_local static mc tlsdm;
    static void smf() { tlsdm.mf(); }
  };
  template<typename T>
  thread_local typename ct<T>::mc ct<T>::tlsdm;
  int main() {
    ct<int>::smf();
  }

With this change, guard variables are set before initialization is started
so as to avoid such reinitialization loops.

The patch has been produced by replacing %clang_cc1 with

there's a remaining ~40 tests not using %clang_cc1 that will need

d74212987b [ConstantFold] Remove unnecessary bounded index restriction
The fold for merging a GEP of GEP into a single GEP currently bails
if doing so would result in notional overindexing. The justification
given in the comment above this check is dangerously incorrect: GEPs
with notional overindexing are perfectly fine, and if some code
treats them incorrectly, then that code is broken, not the GEP.
Such a GEP might legally appear in source IR, so only preventing
its creation cannot be sufficient. (The constant folder also ends
up canonicalizing the GEP to remove the notional overindexing, but
that's neither here nor there.)

This check dates back to
bd4fef4a89,
and as far as I can tell the original issue this was trying to
patch around has since been resolved.

cd4d6d718b PR48030: Fix COMDAT-related linking problem with C++ thread_local static data members.
Previously when emitting a C++ guarded initializer, we tried to work out what
the enclosing function would be used for and added it to the COMDAT containing
the variable if we thought that doing so would be correct. But this was done
from a context in which we didn't -- and realistically couldn't -- correctly
infer how the enclosing function would be used.

Instead, add the initialization function to a COMDAT from the code that
creates it, in the case where it makes sense to do so: when we know that
the one and only reference to the initialization function is in
@llvm.global.ctors and that reference is in the same COMDAT.

df729e2b82 [OpenMP] Overhaul declare target handling
This patch fixes various issues with our prior `declare target` handling
and extends it to support `omp begin declare target` as well.

This started with PR49649 in mind, trying to provide a way for users to
avoid the "ref" global use introduced for globals with internal linkage.
From there it went down the rabbit hole, e.g., all variables, even
`nohost` ones, were emitted into the device code so it was impossible to
determine if "ref" was needed late in the game (based on the name only).
To make it really useful, `begin declare target` was needed as it can
carry the `device_type`. Not emitting variables eagerly had a ripple
effect. Finally, the precedence of the (explicit) declare target list
items needed to be taken into account, that meant we cannot just look
for any declare target attribute to make a decision. This caused the
handling of functions to require fixup as well.

I tried to clean up things while I was at it, e.g., we should not "parse
declarations and defintions" as part of OpenMP parsing, this will always
break at some point. Instead, we keep track what region we are in and
act on definitions and declarations instead, this is what we do for
declare variant and other begin/end directives already.

Highlights:
  - new diagnosis for restrictions specificed in the standard,
  - delayed emission of globals not mentioned in an explicit
    list of a declare target,
  - omission of `nohost` globals on the host and `host` globals on the
    device,
  - no explicit parsing of declarations in-between `omp [begin] declare
    variant` and the corresponding end anymore, regular parsing instead,
  - precedence for explicit mentions in `declare target` lists over
    implicit mentions in the declaration-definition-seq, and
  - `omp allocate` declarations will now replace an earlier emitted
    global, if necessary.

---

Notes:

The patch is larger than I hoped but it turns out that most changes do
on their own lead to "inconsistent states", which seem less desirable
overall.

After working through this I feel the standard should remove the
explicit declare target forms as the delayed emission is horrible.
That said, while we delay things anyway, it seems to me we check too
often for the current status even though that is often not sufficient to
act upon. There seems to be a lot of duplication that can probably be
trimmed down. Eagerly emitting some things seems pretty weak as an
argument to keep so much logic around.

fd739804e0 [test] Add {{.*}} to make ELF tests immune to dso_local/dso_preemptable/(none) differences
For a default visibility external linkage definition, dso_local is set for ELF
-fno-pic/-fpie and COFF and Mach-O. Since default clang -cc1 for ELF is similar
to -fpic ("PIC Level" is not set), this nuance causes unneeded binary format differences.

To make emitted IR similar, ELF -cc1 -fpic will default to -fno-semantic-interposition,
which sets dso_local for default visibility external linkage definitions.

To make this flip smooth and enable future (dso_local as definition default),
this patch replaces (function) `define ` with `define{{.*}} `,
(variable/constant/alias) `= ` with `={{.*}} `, or inserts appropriate `{{.*}} `.

fa5d22a045 [OpenMP][NFC] Reuse OMPIRBuilder struct ident_t handling in Clang
Replace the `ident_t` handling in Clang with the methods offered by the
OMPIRBuilder. This cuts down on the clang code as well as the
differences between the two, making further transitions easier. Tests
have changed but there should not be a real functional change. The most
interesting difference is probably that we stop generating local ident_t
allocations for now and just use globals. Given that this happens only
with debug info, the location part of the `ident_t` is probably bigger
than the test anyway. As the location part is already a global, we can
avoid the allocation, memcpy, and store in favor of a constant global
that is slightly bigger. This can be revisited if there are
complications.

789a46f2d7 [CodeGenModule] Assume dso_local for -fpic -fno-semantic-interposition
Summary:
Clang -fpic defaults to -fno-semantic-interposition (GCC -fpic defaults
to -fsemantic-interposition).
Users need to specify -fsemantic-interposition to get semantic
interposition behavior.

Semantic interposition is currently a best-effort feature. There may
still be some cases where it is not handled well.

810b28edb3 [ItaniumCXXABI] Make tls wrappers properly comdat
Just marking a symbol as weak_odr/linkonce_odr isn't enough for
actually tolerating multiple copies of it at linking on windows,
it has to be made a proper comdat; make it comdat for all platforms
for consistency.

This should hopefully fix

a009a60a91 IR: print value numbers for unnamed function arguments
For consistency with normal instructions and clarity when reading IR,
it's best to print the %0, %1, ... names of function arguments in
definitions.

Also modifies the parser to accept IR in that form for obvious reasons.

91f8066d1d [OpenMP] Set pragma start loc to #pragma loc
This patch adjusts `PragmaOpenMPHandler` to set the location of
`tok::annot_pragma_openmp` to the `#pragma` location instead of the
`omp` location so that the former becomes the start location of the
OpenMP AST node. This can be useful when, for example, rewriting a
directive using Clang's Rewrite facility. Most of this patch updates
tests for changes to locations in diagnostics and `-ast-dump` output.

e1ca7b614f [OPENMP] Create non-const ident_t objects.
Currently ident_t objects are created const when debug info is not
enabled, but the libittnotify libray in the OpenMP runtime writes to
the reserved_2 field (See __kmp_itt_region_forking in
openmp/runtime/src/kmp_itt.inl).  Now create ident_t objects non-const.
