[lldb] Add a progress event for executing an expression (#119757)
Expressions can take arbitrary amounts of time to run, so IDEs might
want to be informed about the fact that an expression is currently being
executed.

[lldb] Refactor UserExpression::Evaluate to only have one error channel. (#117186)
Prior to this patch, the function returned an exit status, sometimes a
ValueObject with an error and a Status object. This patch removes the
Status object and ensures the error is consistently returned as the
error of the ValueObject.

[lldb] Move ValueObject into its own library (NFC) (#113393)
ValueObject is part of lldbCore for historical reasons, but conceptually
it deserves to be its own library. This does introduce a (link-time) circular
dependency between lldbCore and lldbValueObject, which is unfortunate
but probably unavoidable because so many things in LLDB rely on
ValueObject. We already have cycles and these libraries are never built
as dylibs so while this doesn't improve the situation, it also doesn't
make things worse.

The header includes were updated with the following command:

[lldb] Store expression evaluator diagnostics in an llvm::Error (NFC) (#106442)

This patch is the first patch in a series reworking of Pete Lawrence's
(@PortalPete) amazing proposal for better expression evaluator error
messages (https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/pull/80938)

This patch is preparatory patch for improving the rendering of
expression evaluator diagnostics. Currently diagnostics are rendered
into a string and the command interpreter layer then textually parses
words like "error:" to (sometimes) color the output accordingly. In
order to enable user interfaces to do better with diagnostics, we need
to store them in a machine-readable fromat. This patch does this by
adding a new llvm::Error kind wrapping a DiagnosticDetail struct that
is used when the error type is eErrorTypeExpression. Multiple
diagnostics are modeled using llvm::ErrorList.

Right now the extra information is not used by the CommandInterpreter,
this will be added in a follow-up patch!

[lldb] Turn lldb_private::Status into a value type. (#106163)
This patch removes all of the Set.* methods from Status.

This cleanup is part of a series of patches that make it harder use the
anti-pattern of keeping a long-lives Status object around and updating
it while dropping any errors it contains on the floor.

This patch is largely NFC, the more interesting next steps this enables
is to:
1. remove Status.Clear()
2. assert that Status::operator=() never overwrites an error
3. remove Status::operator=()

Note that step (2) will bring 90% of the benefits for users, and step
(3) will dramatically clean up the error handling code in various
places. In the end my goal is to convert all APIs that are of the form

`    ResultTy DoFoo(Status& error)
`
to

`    llvm::Expected<ResultTy> DoFoo()
`
How to read this patch?

The interesting changes are in Status.h and Status.cpp, all other
changes are mostly

Add a new SBExpressionOptions::SetLanguage() API (NFCI) (#89981)
that separates out language and version. To avoid reinventing the wheel
and introducing subtle incompatibilities, this API uses the table of
languages and versiond defined by the upcoming DWARF 6 standard
(https://dwarfstd.org/languages-v6.html). While the DWARF 6 spec is not
finialized, the list of languages is broadly considered stable.

The primary motivation for this is to allow the Swift language plugin to
switch between language dialects between, e.g., Swift 5.9 and 6.0 with
out introducing a ton of new language codes. On the main branch this
change is considered NFC.

[lldb][NFCI] Change parameter type in UserExpression::GetObjectPointer (#67055)
GetObjectPointer (and other related methods) do not need `ConstString`
parameters. The string parameter in these methods boil down to getting a
StringRef and calling `StackFrame::GetValueForVariableExpressionPath`
which takes a `StringRef` parameter. All the users of `GetObjectPointer`
(and related methods) end up creating ConstString objects to pass to
these methods, but they could just as easily be StringRefs (potentially
saving us some allocations in the StringPool).

f2d32ddcec [lldb] Sink StreamFile into lldbHost
StreamFile subclasses Stream (from lldbUtility) and is backed by a File
(from lldbHost). It does not depend on anything from lldbCore or any of its
sibling libraries, so I think it makes sense for this to live in
lldbHost instead.

133c3eaac0 Streamline expression parser error messages.
Currently the expression parser prints a mostly useless generic error before printing the compiler error:

  (lldb) p 1+x)
  error: expression failed to parse:
  error: <user expression 18>:1:3: use of undeclared identifier 'x'
  1+x)
     ^

This is distracting and as far as I can tell only exists to work
around the fact that the first "error: " is unconditionally injected
by CommandReturnObject. The solution is not very elegant, but the
result looks much better.

[lldb] Improve error message when evaluating expression when not stopped
When trying to run an expression after a process has existed, you
currently are shown the following error message:

  (lldb) p strlen("")
  error: Can't make a function caller while the process is running

This error is wrong and pretty uninformative. After this patch, the
following error message is shown:

  (lldb) p strlen("")
  error: unable to evaluate expression while the process is exited: the
  process must be stopped because the expression might require
  allocating memory.

b3215c8106 [lldb] Rename SetResultIsInternal to SetSuppressPersistentResult (NFC)
Rename `SetResultIsInternal` and `GetResultIsInternal` to `SetSuppressPersistentResult`
and `GetSuppressPersistentResult` respectively.  Also rename `m_result_is_internal`.

This matches the naming in the SB API.

A separate change calls `SetSuppressPersistentResult`, where the name
`SetResultIsInternal` doesn't quite fit.

b565e7f0c4 Don't try to create Expressions when the process is running.
We generally prohibit this at a higher level - for instance requiring
the process to be stopped for "expr".  But when we trigger an expression
for internal purposes (e.g. to fetch types from the ObjC runtime) we weren't
checking the process state.  Now we explicitly check this at the very start
of the job so we don't get into bad states.

8184b252cd [LLDB][ClangExpression] Allow expression evaluation from within C++ Lambdas
This patch adds support for evaluating expressions which reference
a captured `this` from within the context of a C++ lambda expression.
Currently LLDB doesn't provide Clang with enough information to
determine that we're inside a lambda expression and are allowed to
access variables on a captured `this`; instead Clang simply fails
to parse the expression.

There are two problems to solve here:
1. Make sure `clang::Sema` doesn't reject the expression due to an
illegal member access.
2. Materialize all the captured variables/member variables required
to evaluate the expression.

To address (1), we currently import the outer structure's AST context
onto `$__lldb_class`, making the `contextClass` and the `NamingClass`
match, a requirement by `clang::Sema::BuildPossibleImplicitMemberExpr`.

To address (2), we inject all captured variables as locals into the
expression source code.

c34698a811 [lldb] Rename Logging.h to LLDBLog.h and clean up includes
Most of our code was including Log.h even though that is not where the
"lldb" log channel is defined (Log.h defines the generic logging
infrastructure). This worked because Log.h included Logging.h, even
though it should.

After the recent refactor, it became impossible the two files include
each other in this direction (the opposite inclusion is needed), so this
patch removes the workaround that was put in place and cleans up all
files to include the right thing. It also renames the file to LLDBLog to
better reflect its purpose.

25bf137b1e Also display the underlying error message when displaying a fixit
When the user running LLDB with default settings sees the fixit
notification it means that the auto-applied fixit didn't work. This
patch shows the underlying error message instead of just the fixit to
make it easier to understand what the error in the expression was.

71536fd031 [lldb] Fix that running a top level expression without a process fails with a cryptic error
Right now when running `expr --top-level -- void foo() {}`, LLDB just prints a cryptic
`error: Couldn't find $__lldb_expr() in the module` error. The reason for that is
that if we don't have a running process, we try to set our execution policy to always use the
IR interpreter (ExecutionPolicyNever) which works even without a process. However
that code didn't consider the special ExecutionPolicyTopLevel which we use for
top-level expressions. By changing the execution policy to ExecutionPolicyNever,
LLDB thinks we're actually trying to interpret a normal expression inside our
`$__lldb_expr` function and then fails when looking for it.

This just adds an exception for top-level expressions to that code and a bunch of tests.

e87b8e4498 [lldb] Log the actual expression result in UserExpression::Evaluate
This used to be a LLDB_LOGF call that used the printf %s syntax.
0ab109d43d9d8389fe686ee8df4a82634f246b55 changed it to LLDB_LOG but didn't
update this format string to use formatv's syntax so this just printed '%s'.

406ad18748 [lldb/DataFormatters] Display null C++ pointers as nullptr
Display null pointer as `nullptr`, `nil` and `NULL` for C++,
Objective-C/Objective-C++ and C respectively. The original motivation
for this patch was to display a null std::string pointer as nullptr
instead of "", but the fix seemed generic enough to be done for all
summary providers.

203a8adb65 [lldb] Add option to retry Fix-Its multiple times to failed expressions
Summary:
Usually when Clang emits an error Fix-It it does two things. It emits the diagnostic and then it fixes the
currently generated AST to reflect the applied Fix-It. While emitting the diagnostic is easy to implement,
fixing the currently generated AST is often tricky. That causes that some Fix-Its just keep the AST as-is or
abort the parsing process entirely. Once the parser stopped, any Fix-Its for the rest of the expression are
not detected and when the user manually applies the Fix-It, the next expression will just produce a new
Fix-It.

This is often occurring with quickly made Fix-Its that are just used to bridge temporary API changes
and that often are not worth implementing a proper API fixup in addition to the diagnostic. To still
give some kind of reasonable user-experience for users that have these Fix-Its and rely on them to
fix their expressions, this patch adds the ability to retry parsing with applied Fix-Its multiple time to
give the normal Fix-It experience where things Clang knows how to fix are not causing actual expression
error (at least when automatically applying Fix-Its is activated).

The way this is implemented is just by having another setting in the expression options that specify how
often we should try applying Fix-Its and then reparse the expression. The default setting is still 1 for everyone
so this should not affect the speed in which we fail to parse expressions.

50f1985353 [lldb][NFC] Delete the original UserExpression before trying to reparse it with FixIts.
Currently when an expression fails to parse and we have a FixIt, we keep
the failed UserExpression around while trying to parse the expression with
applied fixits. This means that we have this rather confusing control flow:

1. Original expression created and parsing attempted.
2. Expression with applied FixIts is created and parsing attempted.
3. Original expression is destroyed and parser deconstructed.
4. Expression with applied FixIts is destroyed and parser deconstructed.

This patch just deletes the original expression so that step 2 and 3 are
swapped and the whole process looks more like just sequentially parsing two
expressions (which is what we actually do here).

Doesn't fix anything just makes the code less fragile.

642bc15dd7 [lldb][NFC] Remove several inefficient ConstString -> const char * -> StringRef conversions
StringRef will call strlen on the C string which is inefficient (as ConstString already
knows the string lenght and so does StringRef). This patch replaces all those calls
with GetStringRef() which doesn't recompute the length.

381e81a048 [lldb][NFCI] Remove UserExpression::GetJITModule
UserExpression::GetJITModule was used to support an option in
UserExpression::Evaluate that let you hold onto the JIT Module used during
the expression evaluation. This was only actually used in one spot --
REPL::IOHandlerInputComplete. That method didn't actually take use the
JIT module it got back, so this feature was not used in practice.
This means that we can delete the support in UserExpression::Evaluate
and delete the UserExpression::GetJITModule method entirely.

adcd026838 Make llvm::StringRef to std::string conversions explicit.
This is how it should've been and brings it more in line with
std::string_view. There should be no functional change here.

This is mostly mechanical from a custom clang-tidy check, with a lot of
manual fixups. It uncovers a lot of minor inefficiencies.

This doesn't actually modify StringRef yet, I'll do that in a follow-up.

808142876c [lldb][NFC] Fix all formatting errors in .cpp file headers
Summary:
A *.cpp file header in LLDB (and in LLDB) should like this:
```
//===-- TestUtilities.cpp -------------------------------------------------===//
```
However in LLDB most of our source files have arbitrary changes to this format and
these changes are spreading through LLDB as folks usually just use the existing
source files as templates for their new files (most notably the unnecessary
editor language indicator `-*- C++ -*-` is spreading and in every review
someone is pointing out that this is wrong, resulting in people pointing out that this
is done in the same way in other files).

This patch removes most of these inconsistencies including the editor language indicators,
all the different missing/additional '-' characters, files that center the file name, missing
trailing `===//` (mostly caused by clang-format breaking the line).

e9331a56fe Add missing nullptr checks.
GetPersistentExpressionStateForLanguage() can return a nullptr if it
cannot construct a typesystem. This patch adds missing nullptr checks
at all uses.

52f3a2faf9 [lldb][NFC] Move LLVM RTTI implementation from enum to static ID variable
Summary:
swift-lldb currently has to patch the ExpressionKind enum to add support for Swift expressions. If we implement LLVM's RTTI
with a static ID variable instead of a centralised enum we can drop that patch.

63e5fb76ec [Logging] Replace Log::Printf with LLDB_LOG macro (NFC)
This patch replaces explicit calls to log::Printf with the new LLDB_LOGF
macro. The macro is similar to LLDB_LOG but supports printf-style format
strings, instead of formatv-style format strings.

So instead of writing:

  if (log)
    log->Printf("%s\n", str);

You'd write:

  LLDB_LOG(log, "%s\n", str);

This change was done mechanically with the command below. I replaced the
spurious if-checks with vim, since I know how to do multi-line
replacements with it.

248a13057a [lldb] NFC modernize codebase with modernize-use-nullptr
Summary:
NFC = [[ https://llvm.org/docs/Lexicon.html#nfc | Non functional change ]]

This commit is the result of modernizing the LLDB codebase by using
`nullptr` instread of `0` or `NULL`. See
https://clang.llvm.org/extra/clang-tidy/checks/modernize-use-nullptr.html
for more information.

This is the command I ran and I to fix and format the code base:

8b6071f561 [Expression] Remove unused dependency
lldbExpression was linking against lldbPluginExpressionParserClang, and
lldbPluginExpressionParserClang was linking against lldbExpression.
There's no reason lldbExpression should need anything from
lldbPluginExpressionParserClang, so let's remove that dependency.

40624a085c [Expressions] Add support of expressions evaluation in some object's context
Summary:
This patch adds support of expression evaluation in a context of some object.
Consider the following example:
```
struct S {
  int a = 11;
  int b = 12;
};

int main() {
  S s;
  int a = 1;
  int b = 2;
  // We have stopped here
  return 0;
}
```
This patch allows to do something like that:
```
lldb.frame.FindVariable("s").EvaluateExpression("a + b")
```
and the result will be `33` (not `3`) because fields `a` and `b` of `s` will be
used (not locals `a` and `b`).

This is achieved by replacing of `this` type and object for the expression. This
has some limitations: an expression can be evaluated only for values located in
the debuggee process memory (they must have an address of `eAddressTypeLoad`
type).

2946cd7010 Update the file headers across all of the LLVM projects in the monorepo
to reflect the new license.

We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header
entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the
Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach.

Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM
project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers
include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed
code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of
our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and
repository.

a35912da9f Revert "Return a named error in the result object of an expression with no result"
This reverts commit r344647.
This causes build failures with [-Werror, -Wswitch]. Some cases where the newly
introduced enum value is not handled in particular are in:

As I don't understand lldb to make sure the likely trivial fixes are
correct and also as they might need additional tests, leaving to the
author to resolve.
