This is a continuation of 68fd102, which did the same thing but only for
StopInfo. Using make_shared is both safer and more efficient:
- With make_shared, the object and the control block are allocated
together, which is more efficient.
- With make_shared, the enable_shared_from_this base class is properly
linked to the control block before the constructor finishes, so
shared_from_this() will be safe to use (though still not recommended
during construction).
LLDB breakpoint conditions take an expression that's evaluated using the
language of the code where the breakpoint is located. Users have asked
to have an option to tell it to evaluate the expression in a specific
language.
This is feature is especially helpful for Swift, for example for a
condition based on the value in memory at an offset from a register.
Such a condition is pretty difficult to write in Swift, but easy in C.
This PR adds a new argument (-Y) to specify the language of the
condition expression. We can't reuse the current -L option, since you
might want to break on only Swift symbols, but run a C expression there
as per the example above.

This RP changes some Breakpoint-related interfaces to return errors. On
its own these improvements are small, but they encourage better error
handling going forward. There are a bunch of other candidates, but these
were the functions that I touched while working on #146602.
This adds SBBreakpoint::SetIsHardware, allowing clients to mark an
existing breakpoint as a hardware breakpoint purely through the API.
This is safe to do after creation, as the hardware/software distinction
doesn't affect how breakpoint locations are selected.
In some cases (e.g. when writing a trap instruction would alter program
behavior), it's important to use hardware breakpoints. Ideally, we’d
extend the various `Create` methods to support this, but given their
number, this patch limits the scope to the post-creation API. As a
workaround, users can also rely on target.require-hardware-breakpoint or
use the `breakpoint set` command.

"statistics dump" currently report the statistics of all targets in
debugger instead of current target. This is wrong because there is a
"statistics dump --all-targets" option that supposed to include
everything.
This PR fixes the issue by only report statistics for current target
instead of all. It also includes the change to reset statistics debug
info/symbol table parsing/indexing time during debugger destroy. This is
required so that we report current statistics if we plan to reuse
lldb/lldb-dap across debug sessions

* Don't call raw_string_ostream::flush(), which is essentially a no-op.
* Avoid unneeded calls to raw_string_ostream::str(), to avoid excess

This patch removes all of the Set.* methods from Status.
This cleanup is part of a series of patches that make it harder use the
anti-pattern of keeping a long-lives Status object around and updating
it while dropping any errors it contains on the floor.
This patch is largely NFC, the more interesting next steps this enables
is to:
1. remove Status.Clear()
2. assert that Status::operator=() never overwrites an error
3. remove Status::operator=()
Note that step (2) will bring 90% of the benefits for users, and step
(3) will dramatically clean up the error handling code in various
places. In the end my goal is to convert all APIs that are of the form

The purpose of m_being_created in these classes was to prevent
broadcasting an event related to these Breakpoints during the creation
of the breakpoint (i.e. in the constructor). In Breakpoint and
Watchpoint, m_being_created had no effect. That is to say, removing it
does not change behavior.
However, BreakpointLocation does still use m_being_created. In the
constructor, SetThreadID is called which does broadcast an event only if
`m_being_created` is false. Instead of having this logic be roundabout,
the constructor instead calls `SetThreadIDInternal`, which actually
changes the thread ID. `SetThreadID` also will call
`SetThreadIDInternal` in addition to broadcasting a changed event.
The lifetime of these BreakpointEventData objects is difficult to reason
about. These BreakpointEventData pointers are created and passed along
to `Event` which takes the raw pointer and sticks them in a shared
pointer. Instead of manually managing the lifetime and memory, it would
be simpler to have them be shared pointers from the start.
This patch changes the interface of
StructuredData::Array::GetItemAtIndexAsString to return a
`std::optional<llvm::StringRef>` instead of taking an out parameter.
More generally, this commit serves as proposal that we change all of the
sibling APIs (`GetItemAtIndexAs`) to do the same thing. The reason this
isn't one giant patch is because it is rather unwieldy changing just one
of these, so if this is approved, I will do all of the other ones as
individual follow-ups.
There's no reason these strings need to be in the ConstString
StringPool, they're already string literals with static lifetime.
I plan on addressing other similar functions in follow up commits.

A common debugging pattern is to set a breakpoint that only stops after
a number of hits is recorded. The current implementation never resets
the hit count of breakpoints; as such, if a user re-`run`s their
program, the debugger will never stop on such a breakpoint again.
This behavior is arguably undesirable, as it renders such breakpoints
ineffective on all but the first run. This commit changes the
implementation of the `Will{Launch, Attach}` methods so that they reset
the _target's_ breakpoint hitcounts.

Most of our code was including Log.h even though that is not where the
"lldb" log channel is defined (Log.h defines the generic logging
infrastructure). This worked because Log.h included Logging.h, even
though it should.
After the recent refactor, it became impossible the two files include
each other in this direction (the opposite inclusion is needed), so this
patch removes the workaround that was put in place and cleans up all
files to include the right thing. It also renames the file to LLDBLog to
better reflect its purpose.
std::chrono::duration types are not thread-safe, and they cannot be
concurrently updated from multiple threads. Currently, we were doing
such a thing (only) in the DWARF indexing code
(DWARFUnit::ExtractDIEsRWLocked), but I think it can easily happen that
someone else tries to update another statistic like this without
bothering to check for thread safety.
This patch changes the StatsDuration type from a simple typedef into a
class in its own right. The class stores the duration internally as
std::atomic<uint64_t> (so it can be updated atomically), but presents it
to its users as the usual chrono type (duration<float>).

This patch adds breakpoints to each target's statistics so we can track how long it takes to resolve each breakpoint. It also includes the structured data for each breakpoint so the exact breakpoint details are logged to allow for reproduction of slow resolving breakpoints. Each target gets a new "breakpoints" array that contains breakpoint details. Each breakpoint has "details" which is the JSON representation of a serialized breakpoint resolver and filter, "id" which is the breakpoint ID, and "resolveTime" which is the time in seconds it took to resolve the breakpoint. A snippet of the new data is shown here:

Many of the API's that returned BreakpointOptions always returned valid ones.
Internally the BreakpointLocations usually have null BreakpointOptions, since they
use their owner's options until an option is set specifically on the location.
So the original code used pointers & unique_ptr everywhere for consistency.
But that made the code hard to reason about from the outside.
This patch changes the code so that everywhere an API is guaranteed to
return a non-null BreakpointOption, it returns it as a reference to make
that clear.
It also changes the Breakpoint to hold a BreakpointOption
member where it previously had a UP. Since we were always filling the UP
in the Breakpoint constructor, having the UP wasn't helping anything.

Previously ignore counts were checked when we stopped to do the sync callback in Breakpoint::ShouldStop. That meant we would do all the ignore count work even when
there is also a condition says the breakpoint should not stop.
That's wrong, lldb treats breakpoint hits that fail the thread or condition checks as "not having hit the breakpoint". So the ignore count check should happen after
the condition and thread checks in StopInfoBreakpoint::PerformAction.
The one side-effect of doing this is that if you have a breakpoint with a synchronous callback, it will run the synchronous callback before checking the ignore count.
That is probably a good thing, since this was already true of the condition and thread checks, so this removes an odd asymmetry. And breakpoints with sync callbacks
are all internal lldb breakpoints and there's not a really good reason why you would want one of these to use an ignore count (but not a condition or thread check...)

Pass TargetSP to filters' CreateFromStructuredData, don't let them guess
whether target object is managed by a shared_ptr.
Make Breakpoint sure that m_target.shared_from_this() is safe by passing TargetSP
to all its static Create*** member-functions. This should be enough, since Breakpoint's
constructors are private/protected and never called directly (except by Target itself).

However in LLDB most of our source files have arbitrary changes to this format and
these changes are spreading through LLDB as folks usually just use the existing
source files as templates for their new files (most notably the unnecessary
editor language indicator `-*- C++ -*-` is spreading and in every review
someone is pointing out that this is wrong, resulting in people pointing out that this
is done in the same way in other files).
This patch removes most of these inconsistencies including the editor language indicators,
all the different missing/additional '-' characters, files that center the file name, missing
trailing `===//` (mostly caused by clang-format breaking the line).

Summary:
The FileSpec class is often used as a sort of a pattern -- one specifies
a bare file name to search, and we check if in matches the full file
name of an existing module (for example).
These comparisons used FileSpec::Equal, which had some support for it
(via the full=false argument), but it was not a good fit for this job.
For one, it did a symmetric comparison, which makes sense for a function
called "equal", but not for typical searches (when searching for
"/foo/bar.so", we don't want to find a module whose name is just
"bar.so"). This resulted in patterns like:
if (FileSpec::Equal(pattern, file, pattern.GetDirectory()))
which would request a "full" match only if the pattern really contained
a directory. This worked, but the intended behavior was very unobvious.
On top of that, a lot of the code wanted to handle the case of an
"empty" pattern, and treat it as matching everything. This resulted in
conditions like:
if (pattern && !FileSpec::Equal(pattern, file, pattern.GetDirectory())
which are nearly impossible to decipher.
This patch introduces a FileSpec::Match function, which does exactly
what most of FileSpec::Equal callers want, an asymmetric match between a
"pattern" FileSpec and a an actual FileSpec. Empty paterns match
everything, filename-only patterns match only the filename component.
I've tried to update all callers of FileSpec::Equal to use a simpler
interface. Those that hardcoded full=true have been changed to use
operator==. Those passing full=pattern.GetDirectory() have been changed
to use FileSpec::Match.
There was also a handful of places which hardcoded full=false. I've
changed these to use FileSpec::Match too. This is a slight change in
semantics, but it does not look like that was ever intended, and it was
more likely a result of a misunderstanding of the "proper" way to use
FileSpec::Equal.
[In an ideal world a "FileSpec" and a "FileSpec pattern" would be two
different types, but given how widespread FileSpec is, it is unlikely
we'll get there in one go. This at least provides a good starting point
by centralizing all matching behavior.]

Summary:
CompileUnit is a complicated class. Having it be implicitly convertible
to a FileSpec makes reasoning about it even harder.
This patch replaces the inheritance by a simple member and an accessor
function. This avoid the need for casting in places where one needed to
force a CompileUnit to be treated as a FileSpec, and does not add much
verbosity elsewhere.
It also fixes a bug where we were wrongly comparing CompileUnit& and a
CompileUnit*, which compiled due to a combination of this inheritance
and the FileSpec*->FileSpec implicit constructor.

This patch replaces explicit calls to log::Printf with the new LLDB_LOGF
macro. The macro is similar to LLDB_LOG but supports printf-style format
strings, instead of formatv-style format strings.
So instead of writing:

You'd write:
LLDB_LOG(log, "%s\n", str);
This change was done mechanically with the command below. I replaced the
spurious if-checks with vim, since I know how to do multi-line
replacements with it.

A lot of comments in LLDB are surrounded by an ASCII line to delimit the
begging and end of the comment.
Its use is not really consistent across the code base, sometimes the
lines are longer, sometimes they are shorter and sometimes they are
omitted. Furthermore, it looks kind of weird with the 80 column limit,
where the comment actually extends past the line, but not by much.
Furthermore, when /// is used for Doxygen comments, it looks
particularly odd. And when // is used, it incorrectly gives the
impression that it's actually a Doxygen comment.
I assume these lines were added to improve distinguishing between
comments and code. However, given that todays editors and IDEs do a
great job at highlighting comments, I think it's worth to drop this for
the sake of consistency. The alternative is fixing all the
inconsistencies, which would create a lot more churn.

My apologies for the large patch. With the exception of ConstString.h
itself it was entirely produced by sed.
ConstString has exactly one const char * data member, so passing a
ConstString by reference is not any more efficient than copying it by
value. In both cases a single pointer is passed. But passing it by
value makes it harder to accidentally return the address of a local
object.

std::make_shared is available since C++11. Not only is std::make_shared
a lot more readable compared to ::reset(new), it also performs a single

When debugging read-only memory we cannot use software breakpoint. We
already have support for hardware breakpoints and users can specify them
with `-H`. However, there's no option to force LLDB to use hardware
breakpoints internally, for example while stepping.
This patch adds a setting target.require-hardware-breakpoint that forces
LLDB to always use hardware breakpoints. Because hardware breakpoints
are a limited resource and can fail to resolve, this patch also extends
error handling in thread plans, where breakpoints are used for stepping.
