For the purpose of verifying proper arguments extensions per the target's ABI,
introduce the NoExt attribute that may be used by a target when neither sign-
or zeroextension is required (e.g. with a struct in register). The purpose of
doing so is to be able to verify that there is always one of these attributes
present and by this detecting cases where sign/zero extension is actually
missing.
As a first step, this patch has the verification step done for the SystemZ
backend only, but left off by default until all known issues have been
addressed.
Other targets/front-ends can now also add NoExt attribute where needed and do
this check in the backend.
Set the writable and dead_on_unwind attributes for sret arguments. These
indicate that the argument points to writable memory (and it's legal to
introduce spurious writes to it on entry to the function) and that the
argument memory will not be used if the call unwinds.
This enables additional MemCpyOpt/DSE/LICM optimizations.
A struct like { float a; int :0; } should per the SystemZ ABI be passed in a
GPR, but to match a bug in GCC it has been passed in an FPR (see 759449c).
GCC has now corrected the C++ ABI for this case, and this patch for clang
follows suit.

This adds -no-opaque-pointers to clang tests whose output will
change when opaque pointers are enabled by default. This is
intended to be part of the migration approach described in
https://discourse.llvm.org/t/enabling-opaque-pointers-by-default/61322/9.
The patch has been produced by replacing %clang_cc1 with
%clang_cc1 -no-opaque-pointers for tests that fail with opaque
pointers enabled. Worth noting that this doesn't cover all tests,
there's a remaining ~40 tests not using %clang_cc1 that will need
a followup change.

For a default visibility external linkage definition, dso_local is set for ELF
-fno-pic/-fpie and COFF and Mach-O. Since default clang -cc1 for ELF is similar
to -fpic ("PIC Level" is not set), this nuance causes unneeded binary format differences.
To make emitted IR similar, ELF -cc1 -fpic will default to -fno-semantic-interposition,
which sets dso_local for default visibility external linkage definitions.
To make this flip smooth and enable future (dso_local as definition default),
this patch replaces (function) `define ` with `define{{.*}} `,
(variable/constant/alias) `= ` with `={{.*}} `, or inserts appropriate `{{.*}} `.
This patch creates a SystemZ folder in clang/test/CodeGen to contain systemz-related lit tests.
