[clang] Introduce diagnostics suppression mappings ( #112517 )
...
This implements
https://discourse.llvm.org/t/rfc-add-support-for-controlling-diagnostics-severities-at-file-level-granularity-through-command-line/81292 .
Users now can suppress warnings for certain headers by providing a
mapping with globs, a sample file looks like:
```
[unused]
src:*
src:*clang/*=emit
```
This will suppress warnings from `-Wunused` group in all files that
aren't under `clang/` directory. This mapping file can be passed to
clang via `--warning-suppression-mappings=foo.txt`.
At a high level, mapping file is stored in DiagnosticOptions and then
processed with rest of the warning flags when creating a
DiagnosticsEngine. This is a functor that uses SpecialCaseLists
underneath to match against globs coming from the mappings file.
This implies processing warning options now performs IO, relevant
interfaces are updated to take in a VFS, falling back to RealFileSystem
when one is not available.

[CGData] Clang Options ( #90304 )
...
This adds new Clang flags to support codegen (CG) data:
- `-fcodegen-data-generate{=path}`: This flag passes
`-codegen-data-generate` as a boolean to the LLVM backend, causing the
raw CG data to be emitted into a custom section. Currently, for LLD
MachO only, it also passes `--codegen-data-generate-path=<path>` so that
the indexed CG data file can be automatically produced at link time. For
linkers that do not yet support this feature, `llvm-cgdata` can be used
manually to merge this CG data in object files.
- `-fcodegen-data-use{=path}`: This flag passes
`-codegen-data-use-path=<path>` to the LLVM backend, enabling the use of
specified CG data to optimistically outline functions.
- The default `<path>` is set to `default.cgdata` when not specified.
This depends on https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/pull/108733 .
This is a patch for
https://discourse.llvm.org/t/rfc-enhanced-machine-outliner-part-2-thinlto-nolto/78753 .

[Driver] Make ffp-model=fast honor non-finite-values, introduce ffp-model=aggressive ( #100453 )

This change modifies -ffp-model=fast to select options that more closely
match -funsafe-math-optimizations, and introduces a new model,
-ffp-model=aggressive which matches the existing behavior (except for a
minor change in the fp-contract behavior).
The primary motivation for this change is to make -ffp-model=fast more
user friendly, particularly in light of LLVM's aggressive optimizations
when -fno-honor-nans and -fno-honor-infinites are used.

An issue with the using `llvm-spirv` is that the one found in PATH might
be compiled against older LLVM version which could lead to crashes or

against different LLVM version depending on the Ubuntu release (LLVM-10

Fix -fno-unsafe-math-optimizations behavior ( #89473 )
...
This changes the handling of -fno-unsafe-fp-math to stop having that
option imply -ftrapping-math. In gcc, -fno-unsafe-math-optimizations
sets -ftrapping-math, but that dependency is based on the fact the
-ftrapping-math is enabled by default in gcc. Because clang does not
enable -ftrapping-math by default, there is no reason for
-fno-unsafe-math-optimizations to set it.
On the other hand, -funsafe-math-optimizations continues to imply
-fno-trapping-math because this option necessarily disables strict
exception semantics.

[Driver] Clean up denormal handling with fast-math-related options ( #89477 )
...
This change cleans up the clang driver handling of umbrella options like
-ffast-math, -funsafe-math-optimizations, and -ffp-model, and aligns the
behavior of -ffp-model=fast with -ffast-math with regard to the linking
of crtfastmath.o.
We agreed in a previous review that the fast-math options should not
attempt to change the -fdenormal-fp-math option, which is inherently
target-specific.
The clang user's manual claims that -ffp-model=fast "behaves identically
to specifying both -ffast-math and -ffp-contract=fast." Since
-ffast-math causes crtfastmath.o to be linked if it is available, that should
also happen with -ffp-model=fast.
I am going to be proposing further changes to -ffp-model=fast,
decoupling it from -ffast-math and introducing a new
-ffp-model=aggressive that matches the current behavior, but I wanted
to solidfy the current behavior before I do that.

Disable FTZ/DAZ when compiling shared libraries by default. ( #80475 )

This fixes https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/issues/57589 , and aligns
Clang with the behavior of current versions of gcc. There is a new

-shared isn't.
This also partially reverts fa7cd549d60 in that it disables the attempt
to set the IR denormal-fp-math attribute based on whether or not
-ffast-math is applied as it is insufficiently reliable.

[CLANG] Full support of complex multiplication and division. ( #81514 )
...
In clang there are two options `-f[no]cx-limited-range` and
`-f[no]cx-fortran-rules` that control the range of complex
multiplication and division. However, it is unclear how these options
interact with one another. For instance, what should happen when the
users compile with `-fcx-fortran-rules -fno-cx-limited-range` or
`-fcx-limited-range -fno-cx-fortran-rules`?
In this patch we are introducing a new option to solve the issue and
give a greater flexibility to the user to control the behavior of the
compiler when performing multiplication and division of complex
floating-point values.
`-fcomplex-arihmetic=[full|improved|promoted|basic]`
`full`: Implementation of complex division and multiplication using a
call to runtime library functions (generally the case, but the BE might
sometimes replace the library call if it knows enough about the
potential range of the inputs). Overflow and non-finite values are
handled by the library implementation. For the case of multiplication
overflow will occur in accordance with normal floating-point rules. This
is the default value.
`improved`: Implementation of complex division using the Smith algorithm
at source precision. Smith's algorithm for complex division. See SMITH,
R. L. Algorithm 116: Complex division. Commun. ACM 5, 8 (1962). This
value offers improved handling for overflow in intermediate
calculations, but overflow may occur. NaN and infinite values are not
handled in some cases.
`promoted`: Implementation of complex division using algebraic formulas
at higher precision. Overflow is handled. Non-finite values are handled
in some cases. If the target does not have native support for a higher
precision data type, the implementation for the complex operation using
the Smith algorithm will be used. Overflow may still occur in some
cases. NaN and infinite values are not handled.
`basic`: Implementation of complex division and multiplication using
algebraic formulas at source precision. No special handling to avoid
overflow. NaN and infinite values are not handled.
`fcx-limited-range` will alias `-fcomplex-arithmetic=basic`
`-fcx-fortran-rules` will alias `-fcomplex-arithmetic=improved`
`-fno-cx-limited-range` and `-fno-cx-fortran-rules` will alias
`-fcomplex-arithmetic=full`
The complex division and multiplication will be implemented as follows
depending on the option used.

[PGO] Exposing PGO's Counter Reset and File Dumping APIs ( #76471 )
...
This PR exposes four PGO functions
- `__llvm_profile_set_filename`
- `__llvm_profile_reset_counters`,
- `__llvm_profile_dump`
- `__llvm_orderfile_dump`
to user programs through the new header `instr_prof_interface.h` under
`compiler-rt/include/profile`. This way, the user can include the header
`profile/instr_prof_interface.h` to introduce these four names to their
programs.
Additionally, this PR defines macro `__LLVM_INSTR_PROFILE_GENERATE` when
the program is compiled with profile generation, and defines macro
`__LLVM_INSTR_PROFILE_USE` when the program is compiled with profile
use. `__LLVM_INSTR_PROFILE_GENERATE` together with
`instr_prof_interface.h` define the PGO functions only when the program
is compiled with profile generation. When profile generation is off,
these PGO functions are defined away and leave no trace in the user's
program.

[clang-cl] Add support for [[msvc::constexpr]] C++11 attribute ( #71300 )
...
This commit introduces support for the MSVC-specific C++11-style
attribute `[[msvc::constexpr]]`, which was introduced in MSVC 14.33.
The semantics of this attribute are enabled only under
MSVC compatibility (`-fms-compatibility-version`) 14.33 and higher.
Additionally, the default value of `_MSC_VER` has been raised to 1433.
The current implementation lacks support for:
- `[[msvc::constexpr]]` constructors (see #72149 );
at the time of this implementation, such support would have required
an unreasonable number of changes in Clang.
- `[[msvc::constexpr]] return ::new` (constexpr placement new) from
non-std namespaces (see #74924 ).

[ItaniumCXXABI] Add -fassume-nothrow-exception-dtor to assume that all exception objects' destructors are non-throwing
...
Link: https://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/cfe-dev/2021-August/068740.html ("[Exception Handling] Could we mark __cxa_end_catch as nounwind conditionally?"
Link: https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/issues/57375
A catch handler calls `__cxa_begin_catch` and `__cxa_end_catch`. For a catch-all
clause or a catch clause matching a record type, we:
* assume that the exception object may have a throwing destructor
* emit `invoke void @__cxa_end_catch` (as the call is not marked as the `nounwind` attribute).
* emit a landing pad to destroy local variables and call `_Unwind_Resume`
```
struct A { ~A(); };
struct B { int x; };
void opaque();
void foo() {
A a;
try { opaque(); } catch (...) { } // the exception object has an unknown type and may throw
try { opaque(); } catch (B b) { } // B::~B is nothrow, but we do not utilize this
}
```
Per C++ [dcl.fct.def.coroutine], a coroutine's function body implies a `catch (...)`.
Our code generation pessimizes even simple code, like:
```
UserFacing foo() {
A a;
opaque();
co_return;
// For `invoke void @__cxa_end_catch()`, the landing pad destroys the
// promise_type and deletes the coro frame.
}
```
Throwing destructors are typically discouraged. In many environments, the
destructors of exception objects are guaranteed to never throw, making our
conservative code generation approach seem wasteful.
Furthermore, throwing destructors tend not to work well in practice:
* GCC does not emit call site records for the region containing `__cxa_end_catch`. This has been a long time, since 2000.
* If a catch-all clause catches an exception object that throws, both GCC and Clang using libstdc++ leak the allocated exception object.
To avoid code generation pessimization, add an opt-in driver option
-fassume-nothrow-exception-dtor to assume that `__cxa_end_catch` calls have the
`nounwind` attribute. This implies that thrown exception objects' destructors
will never throw.
To detect misuses, diagnose throw expressions with a potentially-throwing
destructor. Technically, it is possible that a potentially-throwing destructor
never throws when called transitively by `__cxa_end_catch`, but these cases seem
rare enough to justify a relaxed mode.

any array we try to constant evaluate:
There are 2 limits:
* We cap to UINT_MAX the size of ant constant evaluated array,
because the constant evaluator does not support size_t.
* We cap to `-fconstexpr-steps` elements the size of each individual
array and dynamic array allocations.
This works out because the number of constexpr steps already limits
how many array elements can be initialized, which makes this new
limit conservatively generous.
This ensure that the compiler does not crash when attempting to
constant-fold valid programs.
If the limit is reached by a given array, constant evaluation will fail,
and the program will be ill-formed, until a bigger limit is given.
Or, constant folding will fail and the array will be evaluated at runtime.

[clang][CodeGen] Break up TargetInfo.cpp [8/8]
...
This commit breaks up CodeGen/TargetInfo.cpp into a set of *.cpp files,
one file per target. There are no functional changes, mostly just code moving.
Non-code-moving changes are:
* A virtual destructor has been added to DefaultABIInfo to pin the vtable to a cpp file.
* A few methods of ABIInfo and DefaultABIInfo were split into declaration + definition
in order to reduce the number of transitive includes.
* Several functions that used to be static have been placed in clang::CodeGen
namespace so that they can be accessed from other cpp files.
