d768bf994f [NFC][TargetParser] Replace uses of llvm/Support/Host.h
The forwarding header is left in place because of its use in
`polly/lib/External/isl/interface/extract_interface.cc`, but I have
added a GCC warning about the fact it is deprecated, because it is used
in `isl` from where it is included by Polly.

This patch mechanically replaces None with std::nullopt where the

the amount of manual work required in migrating from Optional to

531ed6d5aa [LTO][COFF] Use bitcode file names in lto native object file names.
Currently the lto native object files have names like main.exe.lto.1.obj. In
PDB, those names are used as names for each compiland. Microsoft’s tool
SizeBench uses those names to present to users the size of each object files.
So, names like main.exe.lto.1.obj is not user friendly.

This patch makes the lto native object file names more readable by using
the bitcode file names as part of the file names. For example, if the input
bitcode file has path like "path/to/foo.obj", its corresponding lto native
object file path would be "path/to/main.exe.lto.foo.obj". Since the lto native
object file name only bothers PDB, this patch only changes the lld-linker's
behavior.

2eade1dba4 [WPD] Use new llvm.public.type.test intrinsic for potentially publicly visible classes
Turning on opaque pointers has uncovered an issue with WPD where we currently pattern match away `assume(type.test)` in WPD so that a later LTT doesn't resolve the type test to undef and introduce an `assume(false)`. The pattern matching can fail in cases where we transform two `assume(type.test)`s into `assume(phi(type.test.1, type.test.2))`.

Currently we create `assume(type.test)` for all virtual calls that might be devirtualized. This is to support `-Wl,--lto-whole-program-visibility`.

To prevent this, all virtual calls that may not be in the same LTO module instead use a new `llvm.public.type.test` intrinsic in place of the `llvm.type.test`. Then when we know if `-Wl,--lto-whole-program-visibility` is passed or not, we can either replace all `llvm.public.type.test` with `llvm.type.test`, or replace all `llvm.public.type.test` with `true`. This prevents WPD from trying to pattern match away `assume(type.test)` for public virtual calls when failing the pattern matching will result in miscompiles.

570e76bb6c [config] Remove vestigial LLVM_VERSION_INFO
This has been superseded by the llvm/Support/VCSRevision.h header. So
far as I can tell, nothing in the CMake build sets LLVM_VERSION_INFO. It
was always undefined, and the ifdefs using it were dead. However, CMake
is very flexible, so it's possible that I missed some ways to set this
variable. One could, for example, probably pass -DLLVM_VERSION_INFO=x on
the command line and get that through to configure_file, or set the
variable in an obscure way (`set(${proj}_VERSION_INFO "x")`). I'm
reasonably confident that isn't happening, but I'd like a second
opinion.

Update the Bazel and gn builds accordingly.

This is a first step towards unifying the code used by libLTO's C API

The immediate motivation is to allow using the new pass manager when

  1. There are no corresponding options in LTOBackend based tools,

Alternatively we could add support for those options to lto::Config &

1756d67934 [llvm][clang][mlir] Add checks for the return values from Target::createXXX to prevent protential null deref
All these potential null pointer dereferences are reported by my static analyzer for null smart pointer dereferences, which has a different implementation from `alpha.cplusplus.SmartPtr`.

The checked pointers in this patch are initialized by Target::createXXX functions. When the creator function pointer is not correctly set, a null pointer will be returned, or the creator function may originally return a null pointer.

Some of them may not make sense as they may be checked before entering the function, but I fixed them all in this patch. I submit this fix because 1) similar checks are found in some other places in the LLVM codebase for the same return value of the function; and, 2) some of the pointers are dereferenced before they are checked, which may definitely trigger a null pointer dereference if the return value is nullptr.

476ca33089 [LTO] Don't apply LTOPostLink module flag during writeMergedModule
For `ld64` which uses legacy LTOCodeGenerator, it relies on
writeMergedModule to perform `ld -r` (generates a linked object file).
If all the inputs to `ld -r` is fullLTO bitcode, `ld64` will linked the
bitcode module, internalize all the symbols and write out another
fullLTO bitcode object file. This bitcode file doesn't have all the
bitcode inputs and it should not have LTOPostLink module flag. It will
also cause error when this bitcode object file is linked with other LTO
object file.
Fix the issue by not applying LTOPostLink flag during writeMergedModule
function. The flag should only be added when all the bitcode are linked
and ready to be optimized.

9ce198d6ed [Darwin] Respect -fno-unroll-loops during LTO.
Currently -fno-unroll-loops is ignored when doing LTO on Darwin. This
patch adds a new -lto-no-unroll-loops option to the LTO code generator
and forwards it to the linker if -fno-unroll-loops is passed.
