This pass removes back-to-back smstart/smstop instructions
to reduce the number of streaming mode changes in a function.
The implementation as proposed doesn't aim to solve all problems
yet and suggests a number of cases that can be optimized in the
future.
If a function requires any streaming-mode change, the vector granule
value must be stored to the stack and unwind info must also describe the
save of VG to this location.
This patch adds VG to the list of callee-saved registers and increases
the
callee-saved stack size if the function requires streaming-mode changes.
A new type is added to RegPairInfo, which is also used to skip restoring
the register used to spill the VG value in the epilogue.

The purpose of the COALESCER_BARRIER pseudo node is to prevent the
register coalescer from coalescing certain COPY instructions around
smstart/smstop instructions, so that we spill only the (required) FPR
register rather than the encompassing ZPR register.
The pseudos are removed in the AArch64ExpandPseudo pass. However,
because the node itself is a _use_ of a register, this occassionally
leads to redundant spills/fills, because the register allocator thinks
the virtual register is actually used before an smstart/smstop
instruction, causing it to be filled, at which points it requires
immediate spilling again to ensure it stays live over the smstart/smstop
instruction.
We can avoid that by removing the pseudo nodes right after coalescing,
but before register allocation.
This is needed by PR#77665[1] that uses a P-register while restoring
Z-registers.
The reverse for SVE register restore in the epilogue was added to
guarantee performance, but further work was done to improve sve frame
restore and besides that the schedule also may change the order of the
restore, undoing the reverse restore.
This also fix the problem reported in (PR #79623) on Windows with
std::reverse and .base().

This patch introduces a 'COALESCER_BARRIER' which is a pseudo node that
expands to
a 'nop', but which stops the register allocator from coalescing a COPY
node when
its use/def crosses a SMSTART or SMSTOP instruction.
For example:
%0:fpr64 = COPY killed $d0
undef %2.dsub:zpr = COPY %0 // <- Do not coalesce this COPY
ADJCALLSTACKDOWN 0, 0
MSRpstatesvcrImm1 1, 0, csr_aarch64_smstartstop, implicit-def dead $d0
$d0 = COPY killed %0
BL @use_f64, csr_aarch64_aapcs
If the COPY would be coalesced, that would lead to:
$d0 = COPY killed %0
being replaced by:
$d0 = COPY killed %2.dsub
which means the whole ZPR reg would be live upto the call, causing the
MSRpstatesvcrImm1 (smstop) to spill/reload the ZPR register:
str q0, [sp] // 16-byte Folded Spill
smstop sm
ldr z0, [sp] // 16-byte Folded Reload
bl use_f64
which would be incorrect for two reasons:
1. The program may load more data than it has allocated.
2. If there are other SVE objects on the stack, the compiler might use
the
'mul vl' addressing modes to access the spill location.
By disabling the coalescing, we get the desired results:
str d0, [sp, #8] // 8-byte Folded Spill
smstop sm
ldr d0, [sp, #8] // 8-byte Folded Reload
bl use_f64
When we lower calls, the sequence of argument copy-to-reg nodes are
glued to the smstart. In the InstrEmitter, these glued copies are turned
into implicit defs, since the actual call instruction uses those
physregs, resulting in the register allocator adding unnecessary copies
of regs that are preserved anyway.
If no frame-pointer is available and the compiler has scavenged a
spill-slot in the callee-save area, the compiler may be forced to emit an
'addvl' inside the streaming-mode-changing call sequence when it needs to
fill (reload) an FP register being passed to the call.
We can avoid this entirely by disabling stack-slot scavenging when there
are streaming-mode-changing call-sequences in the function.

This patch introduces a new AArch64 ISD node (OBSCURE_COPY) that can
be used when we want to prevent SVE object address calculations
from being rematerialised between a smstop/smstart and a call.
At the moment we use COPY to copy the frame index to a register,
which leads to problems because the "simple register coalescing"
pass understands the COPY instruction and attempts to rematerialise
an address calculation with 'addvl' between an smstop and a call.
When in streaming mode the 'addvl' instruction may have different
behaviour because the streaming SVE vector length is not guaranteed
to equal the normal SVE vector length.
The new ISD opcode OBSCURE_COPY gets lowered to a new pseudo
instruction also called OBSCURE_COPY. This ensures it cannot be
rematerialised and we expand this into a simple move very late in
the machine instruction pipeline.

When a streaming mode change is (or may be) required for a call, it will
need to restore the original mode after the call, which prevents the use of
tail-call optimization. The same holds true for a call that requires the lazy-save
mechanism to be set up before the call, and possibly restored after.
