After unrolling, there may be additional simplifications that can be
applied. One example is removing SCALAR-STEPS for the first part where
only the first lane is demanded.
This removes redundant adds of 0 from a large number of tests (~200),
many which I am still working on updating.

PR: https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/pull/123655
Follow-up as discussed when using VPInstruction::ResumePhi for all resume
values (#112147). This patch explicitly adds incoming values for each
predecessor in VPlan. This simplifies codegen and allows transformations
adjusting the predecessors of blocks with
NFC modulo incoming block order in phis.
The last attempt failed a sanitiser build because we were
creating a reference to a null Predicates pointer in
isDereferenceableAndAlignedInLoop. This was exposed by
the unit test IsDerefReadOnlyLoop in
unittests/Analysis/LoadsTest.cpp. I fixed this by falling
back on getConstantMaxBackedgeTakenCount if Predicates is
null - see line 316 in llvm/lib/Analysis/Loads.cpp. There
are no other changes.
Currently when we encounter a negative step in the induction
variable isDereferenceableAndAlignedInLoop bails out because
the element size is signed greater than the step. This patch
adds support for negative steps in cases where we detect the
start address for the load is of the form base + offset. In
this case the address decrements in each iteration so we need
to calculate the access size differently. I have done this by
caling getStartAndEndForAccess from LoopAccessAnalysis.cpp.
The motivation for this patch comes from PR #88385 where a
reviewer requested reusing isDereferenceableAndAlignedInLoop,
but that PR itself does support reverse loops.
The changed test in LoopVectorize/X86/load-deref-pred.ll now
passes because previously we were calculating the total access
size incorrectly, whereas now it is 412 bytes and fits
perfectly into the alloca.
This was originally done to reduce the diff for the change. Remove it
and update the remaining tests. NFC modulo reordering of incoming
values.
Clean up after https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/pull/114292.
This reverts commit f09b16e2671cbcdf7cb7dc7ed705db092a9deda1.
The crash when building llvm-test-suite with stage2 should have been

This reverts commit 1091fad31a83d5ab87eb6fa11fe3bdb3f0d152ea.
Causes crashes in llvm-test-suite when using stage 2 clang.
Updated ILV.createInductionResumeValues (now createInductionResumeVPValue)
to directly update the VPIRInstructions wrapping the original phis with the
created resume values.
This is the first step towards modeling them completely in VPlan.
Subsequent patches will move creation of the resume values completely
into VPlan.

PR: https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/pull/110577
* Adds tests for strided accesses.
* Adds tests for reverse loops.
As part of this I've moved one of the negative tests from
load-deref-pred-align.ll into a new file
(load-deref-pred-neg-off.ll) because the pointer type had a
size of 16 bits and I realised it's probably not sensible for
allocas that are >16 bits in size!
Currently if a loop contains loads that we can prove at compile time
are dereferenceable when certain conditions are satisfied the function
isDereferenceableAndAlignedInLoop will still return false because
getSmallConstantMaxTripCount will return 0 when SCEV predicates
are required. This patch changes getSmallConstantMaxTripCount to take
an optional Predicates pointer argument so that we can permit
functions such as isDereferenceableAndAlignedInLoop to consider more
cases.
This patch now bails out explicitly for negative offsets so that it's
more consistent with the unsigned remainder and add calculations,
and it fixes a genuine bug as shown with the new test.
This patch moves branch condition creation to enter the scalar epilogue
loop to VPlan. Modeling the branch in the middle block also requires
modeling the successor blocks. This is done using the recently
introduced VPIRBasicBlock.
Note that the middle.block is still created as part of the skeleton and
then patched in during VPlan execution. Unfortunately the skeleton needs
to create the middle.block early on, as it is also used for induction
resume value creation and is also needed to properly update the
dominator tree during skeleton creation.
After this patch lands, I plan to move induction resume value and phi
node creation in the scalar preheader to VPlan. Once that is done, we
should be able to create the middle.block in VPlan directly.
This is a re-worked version based on the earlier
https://reviews.llvm.org/D150398 and the main change is the use of
VPIRBasicBlock.

VPBlendRecipe does not use the first mask operand. Removing it allows
VPlan-based DCE to remove unused mask computations.
This also fixes#87410, where unused Not VPInstructions are considered
having only their first lane demanded, but some of their operands
providing a vector value due to other users.

Split off from D150398 to avoid builder-related diff changes there.
Using IRBuilder to create ICmps simplifies the result if both operands
are constants.
