They are currently implicit because TargetMachine::shouldAssumeDSOLocal implies
dso_local.
For external data, clang -fno-pic emits the dso_local specifier for ELF and
non-MinGW COFF. Adding explicit dso_local makes these tests in align with the
clang behavior and helps implementing an option to use GOT indirection for
external data access in -fno-pic mode (to avoid copy relocations).
We can use a MOVSX16 here then rely on FixupBWInst to change to
MOVSX32 if the upper bits are dead. With a special case to
not promote if it could be turned into CBW.
Then we can rely on X86MCInstLower to turn the MOVSX into CBW
very late if register allocation worked out.
Using MOVSX gives an opportunity to use the MOVSX as a both a
copy and a sign extend since the input and output register aren't
tied together.

We can rely on X86FixupBWInsts to turn these into MOVZX32. This
simplifies a follow up commit to use MOVSX for i8 sdivrem with
a late optimization to use CBW when register allocation works out.

Enable enableMultipleCopyHints() on X86.
Original Patch by @jonpa:
While enabling the mischeduler for SystemZ, it was discovered that for some reason a test needed one extra seemingly needless COPY (test/CodeGen/SystemZ/call-03.ll). The handling for that is resulted in this patch, which improves the register coalescing by providing not just one copy hint, but a sorted list of copy hints. On SystemZ, this gives ~12500 less register moves on SPEC, as well as marginally less spilling.
Instead of improving just the SystemZ backend, the improvement has been implemented in common-code (calculateSpillWeightAndHint(). This gives a lot of test failures, but since this should be a general improvement I hope that the involved targets will help and review the test updates.

In preparation for adding support for named vregs we are changing the sigil for
physical registers in MIR to '$' from '%'. This will prevent name clashes of
named physical register with named vregs.

Some of the NOREX instructions are used in 32-bit mode making this printing confusing. It also doesn't provide a lot of value since you can see the h-register being used by the instruction.

As part of the unification of the debug format and the MIR format, print
MBB references as '%bb.5'.
The MIR printer prints the IR name of a MBB only for block definitions.

As part of the unification of the debug format and the MIR format,
always print registers as lowercase.
* Only debug printing is affected. It now follows MIR.

If the extend type is 64-bits, emit a 32-bit -> 64-bit extend after the UDIVREM8_ZEXT_HREG/UDIVREM8_SEXT_HREG operation.
This gives a shorter encoding for the second extend in the sext case, and allows us to completely remove the second extend in the zext case.
This also adds known bit and num sign bits support for UDIVREM8_ZEXT_HREG/SDIVREM8_SEXT_HREG.

In r260133, LLVM was changed to no longer extend i8/i16 return values,
as it's not required by the ABI. However, code was found in the wild
that relies on the old behaviour on Darwin, so this commit reverts
back to that old behaviour for Darwin.
On other platforms, it's less likely that code would be depending on
the old behaviour, as GCC and MSVC haven't been extending such return
values.
llvm-svn: 261235
This matches GCC and MSVC's behaviour, and saves on code size.
We were already not extending i1 return values on x86_64 after r127766. This
takes that patch further by applying it to x86 target as well, and also for i8
and i16.
The ABI docs have been unclear about the required behaviour here. The new i386
psABI [1] clearly states (Table 2.4, page 14) that i1, i8, and i16 return
vales do not need to be extended beyond 8 bits. The x86_64 ABI doc is being
updated to say the same [2].

For 8-bit divrems where the remainder is used, we used to generate:
divb %sil
shrw $8, %ax
movzbl %al, %eax
That was to avoid an H-reg access, which is problematic mainly because
it isn't possible in REX-prefixed instructions.
This patch optimizes that to:
divb %sil
movzbl %ah, %eax
To do that, we explicitly extend AH, and extract the L-subreg in the
resulting register. The extension is done using the NOREX variants of
MOVZX. To support signed operations, MOVSX_NOREX is also added.
Further, this introduces a new SDNode type, [us]divrem_ext_hreg, which is
then lowered to a sequence containing a single zext (rather than 2).
