The problem is that in WaitForPacketNoLock's run loop, it checks that
the connection is still connected. This races with the
ConnectionFileDescriptor disconnecting. Most (but not all) access to the
IOObject in ConnectionFileDescriptorPosix is already gated by the mutex.
This patch just protects IsConnected in the same way.

d8bd179a17 Clear read_fd_set if EINTR received
Leaving bits uncleared set causes callbacks to be triggered even
though there are no events to process. Starting with D131160
we have a callback that makes blocking read calls over pipe which
was causing the lldb-server main loop to become unresponsive / blocked
on Android.

343523d040 [lldb] Use std::nullopt instead of None (NFC)
This patch mechanically replaces None with std::nullopt where the
compiler would warn if None were deprecated.  The intent is to reduce

e8ee0f121d [lldb] [MainLoopPosix] Fix crash upon adding lots of pending callbacks
If lots of pending callbacks are added while the main loop has exited
already, the trigger pipe buffer fills in, causing the write to fail
and the related assertion to fail.  To avoid this, add a boolean member
indicating whether the callbacks have been triggered already.
If the trigger was done, avoid writing to the pipe until loops proceeds
to run them and resets the variable.

Besides fixing the issue, this also avoids writing to the pipe multiple
times if callbacks are added faster than the loop is able to process
them.  Previously, this would lead to the loop performing multiple read
iterations from pipe unnecessarily.

681d0d9e5f [lldb-server] Report launch error in vRun packets
Uses our existing "error string" extension to provide a better
indication of why the launch failed (the client does not make use of the
error yet).

Also, fix the way we obtain the launch error message (make sure we read
the whole message, and skip trailing garbage), and reduce the size of
TestLldbGdbServer by splitting some tests into a separate file.

47b76631e7 [lldb] Use std::size instead of llvm::array_lengthof
LLVM contains a helpful function for getting the size of a C-style
array: `llvm::array_lengthof`. This is useful prior to C++17, but not as
helpful for C++17 or later: `std::size` already has support for C-style
arrays.

Change call sites to use `std::size` instead.

6a8bbd26ab [lldb] Enable the insertion of "pending callbacks" to MainLoops from other threads
This will be used as a replacement for selecting over a pipe fd, which
does not work on windows. The posix implementation still uses a pipe
under the hood, while the windows version uses windows event handles.

The idea is that, instead of writing to a pipe, one just inserts a
callback, which does whatever you wanted to do after the bytes come out
the read end of the pipe.

c74c17f37a [lldb] Use WSAEventSelect for MainLoop polling on windows
This patch switches the MainLoop class to use the WSAEventSelect
mechanism to wait for multiple sockets to become readable. The
motivation for doing that is that this allows us to wait for other kinds
of events as well (as long as they can be converted to WSAEvents). This
will allow us to avoid (abstract away) pipe-based multiplexing
mechanisms in the generic code, since pipes cannot be combined with
sockets on windows.

Since the windows implementation will now look completely different than
the posix (file descriptor-based) implementations, I have split the
MainLoop class into two (MainLoopPosix and MainLoopWindows), with the
common code going into MainLoopBase.

529a3d87a7 [NFC] Improve FileSpec internal APIs and usage in preparation for adding caching of resolved/absolute.
Resubmission of https://reviews.llvm.org/D130309 with the 2 patches that fixed the linux buildbot, and new windows fixes.

The FileSpec APIs allow users to modify instance variables directly by getting a non const reference to the directory and filename instance variables. This makes it impossible to control all of the times the FileSpec object is modified so we can clear cached member variables like m_resolved and with an upcoming patch caching if the file is relative or absolute. This patch modifies the APIs of FileSpec so no one can modify the directory or filename instance variables directly by adding set accessors and by removing the get accessors that are non const.

Many clients were using FileSpec::GetCString(...) which returned a unique C string from a ConstString'ified version of the result of GetPath() which returned a std::string. This caused many locations to use this convenient function incorrectly and could cause many strings to be added to the constant string pool that didn't need to. Most clients were converted to using FileSpec::GetPath().c_str() when possible. Other clients were modified to use the newly renamed version of this function which returns an actualy ConstString:

ConstString FileSpec::GetPathAsConstString(bool denormalize = true) const;

This avoids the issue where people were getting an already uniqued "const char *" that came from a ConstString only to put the "const char *" back into a "ConstString" object. By returning the ConstString instead of a "const char *" clients can be more efficient with the result.

The patch:
- Removes the non const GetDirectory() and GetFilename() get accessors
- Adds set accessors to replace the above functions: SetDirectory() and SetFilename().
- Adds ClearDirectory() and ClearFilename() to replace usage of the FileSpec::GetDirectory().Clear()/FileSpec::GetFilename().Clear() call sites
- Fixed all incorrect usage of FileSpec::GetCString() to use FileSpec::GetPath().c_str() where appropriate, and updated other call sites that wanted a ConstString to use the newly returned ConstString appropriately and efficiently.

[lldb] Fix crash when launching in terminal
This patch fixes a crash when using process launch -t to launch the
inferior from a TTY. The issue is that on Darwin, Host.mm is calling
ConnectionFileDescriptor::Connect without a socket_id_callback_type. The
overload passes nullptr as the function ref, which gets called
unconditionally as the socket_id_callback.

One potential way to fix this is to change all the lambdas to include a
null check, but instead I went with an empty lambda.

[lldb] Remove FileSystem::Initialize from FileCollector
This patch removes the ability to instantiate the LLDB FileSystem class
with a FileCollector. It keeps the ability to collect files, but uses
the FileCollectorFileSystem to do that transparently.

Because the two are intertwined, this patch also removes the
finalization logic which copied the files over out of process.

12c9c4a885 [lldb/host] Remove monitor_signals argument from process monitoring functions
All current callers set the argument to false. monitor_signals=true used
to be used in the Process plugins (which needed to know when the
debugged process gets a signal), but this implementation has several
serious issues, which means that individual process plugins now
orchestrate the monitoring of debugged processes themselves.

This allows us to simplify the implementation (no need to play with
process groups), and the interface (we only catch fatal events, so the
callback is always called just once).

c34698a811 [lldb] Rename Logging.h to LLDBLog.h and clean up includes
Most of our code was including Log.h even though that is not where the
"lldb" log channel is defined (Log.h defines the generic logging
infrastructure). This worked because Log.h included Logging.h, even
though it should.

After the recent refactor, it became impossible the two files include
each other in this direction (the opposite inclusion is needed), so this
patch removes the workaround that was put in place and cleans up all
files to include the right thing. It also renames the file to LLDBLog to
better reflect its purpose.

caa7e765e5 [lldb] Make ProcessLauncherPosixFork (mostly) async-signal-safe
Multithreaded applications using fork(2) need to be extra careful about
what they do in the fork child. Without any special precautions (which
only really work if you can fully control all threads) they can only
safely call async-signal-safe functions. This is because the forked
child will contain snapshot of the parents memory at a random moment in
the execution of all of the non-forking threads (this is where the
similarity with signals comes in).

For example, the other threads could have been holding locks that can
now never be released in the child process and any attempt to obtain
them would block. This is what sometimes happen when using tcmalloc --
our fork child ends up hanging in the memory allocation routine. It is
also what happened with our logging code, which is why we added a
pthread_atfork hackaround.

This patch implements a proper fix to the problem, by which is to make
the child code async-signal-safe. The ProcessLaunchInfo structure is
transformed into a simpler ForkLaunchInfo representation, one which can
be read without allocating memory and invoking complex library
functions.

Strictly speaking this implementation is not async-signal-safe, as it
still invokes library functions outside of the posix-blessed set of
entry points. Strictly adhering to the spec would mean reimplementing a
lot of the functionality in pure C, so instead I rely on the fact that
any reasonable implementation of some functions (e.g.,
basic_string::c_str()) will not start allocating memory or doing other
unsafe things.

The new child code does not call into our logging infrastructure, which
enables us to remove the pthread_atfork call from there.

and move it to gdb-remote.  It is specifically relevant to the threading
used inside gdb-remote and with the new port callback API, we can

to std::promise/std::future.

58d28b931f [lldb] [lldb-gdbserver] Unify listen/connect code to use ConnectionFileDescriptor
Unify the listen and connect code inside lldb-server to use
ConnectionFileDescriptor uniformly rather than a mix of it and Acceptor.
This involves:

- adding a function to map legacy values of host:port parameter
  (including legacy server URLs) into CFD-style URLs

- adding a callback to return "local socket id" (i.e. UNIX socket path
  or TCP port number) between listen() and accept() calls in CFD

- adding a "unix-abstract-accept" scheme to CFD

As an additional advantage, this permits lldb-server to accept any URL
known to CFD including the new serial:// scheme.  Effectively,
lldb-server can now listen on the serial port.  Tests for connecting
over a pty are added to test that.

0a39a9c2cb Modernize and simplify HostInfo::GetOSKernelDescription
Replace bool+by-ref argument with llvm::Optional, and move the common
implementation into HostInfoPOSIX. Based on my (simple) experiment,
the uname and the sysctl approach return the same value on MacOS, so
there's no need for a mac-specific implementation of this functionality.

9d63b90b59 [lldb] [Host/ConnectionFileDescriptor] Do not use non-blocking mode
Disable non-blocking mode that's enabled only for file:// and serial://
protocols.  All read operations should be going through the select(2)
in ConnectionFileDescriptor::BytesAvaliable, which effectively erases
(non-)blocking mode differences in reading.  We do want to perform
writes in the blocking mode.

4a7b4beac7 [lldb] Add serial:// protocol for connecting to serial port
Add a new serial:// protocol along with SerialPort that provides a new
API to open serial ports.  The URL consists of serial device path
followed by URL-style options, e.g.:

    serial:///dev/ttyS0?baud=115200&parity=even

If no options are provided, the serial port is only set to raw mode
and the other attributes remain unchanged.  Attributes provided via
options are modified to the specified values.  Upon closing the serial
port, its original attributes are restored.

4b46a41343 [lldb] [ConnectionFileDescriptorPosix] Refactor scheme matching
Move the POSIX-specific fd:// and file:// scheme handling into
separate methods.  Replace the custom GetURLAddress() matching with
splitting into scheme and path, and matching scheme via
llvm::StringSwitch.  Use early returns.

dcb0e687fa [lldb] [ConnectionFileDescriptorPosix] Use a single NativeFile
Replace separate read and write NativeFile instances with a single
instance shared for reading and writing.  There is no clear indication
why two instances were used in the first place, and replacing them
with just one does not seem to cause any regressions in tests or manual
'process connect file://...'.

be2a4216fc [lldb] Fix SocketTest.DomainGetConnectURI on macOS by stripping more zeroes from getpeername result
Apparently macOS is padding the name result with several padding zeroes at
the end. Just strip them all to pretend it's a C-string.

Thanks to Pavel for suggesting this fix.

5685eb950d [lldb] Fix DomainSocket::GetSocketName for unnamed sockets
getpeername will return addrlen = 2 (sizeof sa_family_t) for unnamed
sockets (those not assigned a name with bind(2)). This is typically true
for client sockets as well as those created by socketpair(2).

This GetSocketName used to crash for sockets which were connected to
these kinds of sockets. Now it returns an empty string.

14735cab65 [lldb] [gdb-remote] Add eOpenOptionReadWrite for future gdb compat
Modify OpenOptions enum to open the future path into synchronizing
vFile:open bits with GDB.  Currently, LLDB and GDB use different flag
models effectively making it impossible to match bits.  Notably, LLDB
uses two bits to indicate read and write status, and uses union of both
for read/write.  GDB uses a value of 0 for read-only, 1 for write-only
and 2 for read/write.

In order to future-proof the code for the GDB variant:

1. Add a distinct eOpenOptionReadWrite constant to be used instead
   of (eOpenOptionRead | eOpenOptionWrite) when R/W access is required.

2. Rename eOpenOptionRead and eOpenOptionWrite to eOpenOptionReadOnly
   and eOpenOptionWriteOnly respectively, to make it clear that they
   do not mean to be combined and require update to all call sites.

3. Use the intersection of all three flags when matching against
   the three possible values.

This commit does not change the actual bits used by LLDB.
