C_FILE symbols. To match the behavior of the assembler and the legacy
compiler, this includes using the generic ".file" name for the C_FILE
symbol and generating the actual file name in an auxiliary entry.
The current implementation generates a csect with a
".rodata.str.x.y" prefix for a MergeableCString variable definition.
However, a reference to such variable does not get the prefix in its
name because there's not enough information in the containing IR.
In particular, without seeing the initializer and absent of some other
indicators, we cannot tell that the referenced variable is a null-
terminated string.
When the AIX codegen in llvm was being developed, the prefixing was copied
from ELF without having the linker take advantage of the info.
Currently, the AIX linker does not have the capability to merge
MergeableCString variables. If such feature would ever get implemented,
the contract between the linker and compiler would have to be reconsidered.
Here's the before and after of this change:
```
@a = global i64 320255973571806, align 8
@strA = unnamed_addr constant [7 x i8] c"hello\0A\00", align 1 ;; Mergeable1ByteCString
@strB = unnamed_addr constant [8 x i8] c"Blahah\0A\00", align 1 ;; Mergeable1ByteCString
@strC = unnamed_addr constant [2 x i16] [i16 1, i16 0], align 2 ;; Mergeable2ByteCString
@strD = unnamed_addr constant [2 x i16] [i16 1, i16 1], align 2 ;; !isMergeableCString
@strE = external unnamed_addr constant [2 x i16], align 2
This is for XCOFF DWARF support.
Seems when DWARF debug is enable, symbol 0 has special usage
for AIX binder. At least, symbol 0 can not be the .text
section. Otherwise, we get some binding time error.
Add correct C_FILE symbol at index 0 here to make AIX binder
work.
This patch is the initial patch for support of the AIX extended vector ABI. The extended ABI treats vector registers V20-V31 as non-volatile and we add them as callee saved registers in this patch.
Summary:
This patch does the following:
1. Make InitTargetOptionsFromCodeGenFlags() accepts Triple as a
parameter, because some options' default value is triple dependant.
2. DataSections is turned on by default on AIX for llc.
3. Test cases change accordingly because of the default behaviour change.
4. Clang Driver passes in -fdata-sections by default on AIX.
Summary:
Some design decision worth noting about:
I've noticed a recent mailing discussing about why string literal is
not affected by -fdata-sections for ELF target:
http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2020-September/145121.html
But on AIX, our linker could not split the mergeable string like other target.
So I think it would make more sense for us to emit separate csect for
every mergeable string in -fdata-sections mode,
as there might not be other ways for linker to do garbage collection
on unused mergeable string.
