If we're loading a constant value, print the constant (and the zero upper elements) instead of just the shuffle mask.
This did require me to move the shuffle mask handling into addConstantComments as we can't handle this in the MC layer.
Avoids infinite issues in some upcoming patches to help D152928 - x86 sees a number of regressions that are addressed by extending SimplifyDemandedVectorEltsForTargetNode to cover more binop opcodes
We can just bitcast the pre-shifted mask as an integer and use TEST/BT directly.
Reapplied with fix for 239ab16ec121 which didn't set the comparison type correctly
We can just bitcast the pre-shifted mask as an integer and use TEST/BT directly.
This can be extended further to better handle sub-i8 mask cases, but just getting rid of KSHIFTR nodes makes a notable difference.
FoldSetCC() returns UNDEF in a number of cases. However, the SetCC
result must follow BooleanContents. Unless the type is a
pre-legalization i1 or we have UndefinedBooleanContents, the use of
UNDEF will not uphold the requirement that the top bits are either
zero or match the low bit. In such cases, return zero instead.

combineX86ShuffleChain and combineX86ShuffleChainWithExtract no longer require the shuffle inputs to be the same width as the root vector, so we can stop generating widening nodes on the fly (combineX86ShuffleChain should handles all of this).
This requires a couple of additional folds to avoid a couple of notable regressions:
getFauxShuffleMask - recognise INSERT_SUBVECTOR(X,Y,C) as a shuffle pattern as long as its not just widening the subvector.
combineConcatVectorOps - folds CONCAT_VECTORS(AssertSext(X,Ty),AssertSext(Y,Ty)) -> AssertSext(CONCAT_VECTORS(X,Y),Ty)
One of the final stages towards fixing Issue #45319 and addressing the regressions in the interleaved tests in D127115
The first attempt missed changing test files for tools
(update_llc_test_checks.py).
Original commit message:
This implements the main suggested change from issue #56498.
Using the shorter (non-extending) instruction with only
-Oz ("minsize") rather than -Os ("optsize") is left as a
possible follow-up.
As noted in the bug report, the zero-extending load may have
shorter latency/better throughput across a wide range of x86
micro-arches, and it avoids a potential false dependency.
The cost is an extra instruction byte.
This could cause perf ups and downs from secondary effects,
but I don't think it is possible to account for those in
advance, and that will likely also depend on exact micro-arch.
This does bring LLVM x86 codegen more in line with existing
gcc codegen, so if problems are exposed they are more likely
to occur for both compilers.

1. Promote to float lowering for nodes XINT_TO_FP
2. Bail out f16 from shuffle combine due to vector type is not legal in the version
Another issue unearthed by D127115
We take a long time to canonicalize an insert_vector_elt chain before being able to convert it into a build_vector - even if they are already in ascending insertion order, we fold the nodes one at a time into the build_vector 'seed', leaving plenty of time for other folds to alter it (in particular recognising when they come from extract_vector_elt resulting in a shuffle_vector that is much harder to fold with).
D127115 makes this particularly difficult as we're almost guaranteed to have the lost the sequence before all possible insertions have been folded.
This patch proposes to begin at the last insertion and attempt to collect all the (oneuse) insertions right away and create the build_vector before its too late.

GCC and Clang/LLVM will support `_Float16` on X86 in C/C++, following
the latest X86 psABI. (https://gitlab.com/x86-psABIs)
_Float16 arithmetic will be performed using native half-precision. If
native arithmetic instructions are not available, it will be performed
at a higher precision (currently always float) and then truncated down
to _Float16 immediately after each single arithmetic operation.

We can use MOVMSK+TEST/BT to extract individual bool elements even if the index isn't constant
This relies on combineBitcastvxi1 so some AVX512 cases still aren't optimized as they avoid MOVMSK usage.
The motivation is that the update script has at least two deviations
(`<...>@GOT`/`<...>@PLT`/ and not hiding pointer arithmetics) from
what pretty much all the checklines were generated with,
and most of the tests are still not updated, so each time one of the
non-up-to-date tests is updated to see the effect of the code change,
there is a lot of noise. Instead of having to deal with that each
time, let's just deal with everything at once.
This has been done via:
```
cd llvm-project/llvm/test/CodeGen/X86
grep -rl "; NOTE: Assertions have been autogenerated by utils/update_llc_test_checks.py" | xargs -L1 <...>/llvm-project/llvm/utils/update_llc_test_checks.py --llc-binary <...>/llvm-project/build/bin/llc
```
Not all tests were regenerated, however.
With predicate masks, AVX512 can efficiently perform variable-index vector insertion with 2 broadcasts + 1 comparison, avoiding a lot of aliased memory traffic.

KMOVWkr produces VK16, there's no reason to copy it to VK16 again.
Test changes are presumably because we were scheduling based on
the COPY that is no longer there.
In two instances of CreateStackTemporary we are sometimes promoting
alignments beyond the stack alignment. I have introduced a new function
called getReducedAlign that will return the alignment for the broken
down parts of illegal vector types. For example, on NEON a <32 x i8>
type is made up of two <16 x i8> types - in this case the sensible
alignment is 16 bytes, not 32.
In the legalization code wherever we create stack temporaries I have
started using the reduced alignments instead for illegal vector types.
I added a test to
CodeGen/AArch64/build-one-lane.ll
that tries to insert an element into an illegal fixed vector type
that involves creating a temporary stack object.

The "Align" passed into getMachineMemOperand etc. is the alignment of
the MachinePointerInfo, not the alignment of the memory operation.
(getAlign() on a MachineMemOperand automatically reduces the alignment
to account for this.)
We were passing on wrong (overconservative) alignment in a bunch of
places. Fix a bunch of these, mostly in legalization. And while I'm
here, switch to the new Align APIs.
The test changes are all scheduling changes: the biggest effect of
preserving large alignments is that it improves alias analysis, so the
scheduler has more freedom.
(I was originally just trying to do a minor cleanup in
SelectionDAGBuilder, but I accidentally went deeper down the rabbit
hole.)

This moves v32i16/v64i8 to a model consistent with how we
treat integer types with avx1.
This does change the ABI for types vXi16/vXi8 vectors larger than
512 bits to pass in multiple zmms instead of multiple ymms. We'd
already hacked some code to make v64i8/v32i16 pass in zmm.
Cost model is still a bit of a mess. In some place I tried to
match existing behavior. But really we need to account for
splitting and concating costs. Cost model for shuffles is
especially pessimistic.

We need to use vector instructions for these operations. Previously
we handled this with isel patterns that used extra instructions
and copies to handle the the conversions.
Now we use custom lowering to emit the conversions. This allows
them to be pattern matched and optimized on their own. For
example we can now emit vpextrw to store the result if its going
directly to memory.
I've forced the upper elements to VCVTPHS2PS to zero to keep some
code similar. Zeroes will be needed for strictfp. I've added a
DAG combine for (fp16_to_fp (fp_to_fp16 X)) to avoid extra
instructions in between to be closer to the previous codegen.
This is a step towards strictfp support for f16 conversions.
Using sign extend forces the adjacent element to either all zeros
or all ones. But all ones is a NAN. So that doesn't seem like a
great idea.
Trying to work on supporting this with strict FP where NAN would
definitely be bad.
This is based on this llvm-dev thread http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2019-December/137521.html
The current strategy for f16 is to promote type to float every except where the specific width is required like loads, stores, and bitcasts. This results in rounding occurring in odd places instead of immediately after arithmetic operations. This interacts in weird ways with the __fp16 type in clang which is a storage only type where arithmetic is always promoted to float. InstCombine can remove some fpext/fptruncs around such arithmetic and turn it into arithmetic on half. This wouldn't be so bad if SelectionDAG was able to put those fpext/fpround back in when it promotes.
It is also not obvious how to handle to make the existing strategy work with STRICT fp. We need to use STRICT versions of the conversions which require chain operands. But if the conversions are created for a bitcast, there is no place to get an appropriate chain from.
This patch implements a different strategy where conversions are emitted directly around arithmetic operations. And otherwise its passed around as an i16 including in arguments and return values. This can result in more conversions between arithmetic operations, but is closer to matching the IR the frontend generates for __fp16. And it will allow us to use the chain from constrained arithmetic nodes to link the STRICT_FP_TO_FP16/STRICT_FP16_TO_FP that will need to be added. I've set it up so that each target can opt into the new behavior. Converting all the targets myself was more than I was able to handle.
