[DebugInfo][RemoveDIs] Make debugify pass convert to/from RemoveDIs mode (#73251)
Debugify is extremely useful as a testing and debugging tool, and a good
number of LLVM-IR transform tests use it. We need it to support "new"
non-instruction debug-info to get test coverage, but it's not important
enough to completely convert right now (and it'd be a large
undertaking). Thus: convert to/from dbg.value/DPValue mode on entry and
exit of the pass, which gives us the functionality without any further
work. The cost is compile-time, but again this is only happening during
tests.

Tested by: the large set of debugify tests enabled here. Note the
InstCombine test (cast-mul-select.ll) that hasn't been fully enabled:
this is because there's a debug-info sinking piece of code there that
hasn't been instrumented.

6d23aaad4f [DebugInfo][RemoveDIs] Implement redundant elimination for DPValues (#72284)
This pass steps through a block forwards and backwards, identifying those
variable assignment records that are redundant, and erases them, saving us
a decent wedge of compile-time. This patch re-implements it to use the
replacement for DbgValueInsts, DPValues, in an almost identical way.

Alas the test I've added the try-remove-dis flag to is the only one I've
been able to find that manually runs this pass.

833557a6e4 DCE: Update tests to use opaque pointers
basic.ll:test_lifetime_bitcast is a strange case. The comment says
it's trying to keep the lifetime intrinsics for bitcasts. Leave a
dummy bitcast for now to keep it happy.

3f8027fb67 [test] Update some test cases to use -passes when specifying the pipeline
This updates transform test cases for
  ADCE
  AddDiscriminators
  AggressiveInstCombine
  AlignmentFromAssumptions
  ArgumentPromotion
  BDCE
  CalledValuePropagation
  DCE
  Reg2Mem
  WholeProgramDevirt
to use the -passes syntax when specifying the pipeline.

Given that LLVM_ENABLE_NEW_PASS_MANAGER isn't set to off (which is
a deprecated feature) the updated test cases already used the new
pass manager, but they were using the legacy syntax when specifying
the passes to run. This patch can be seen as a step toward deprecating
that interface.

This patch also removes some redundant RUN lines. Here I am
referring to test cases that had multiple RUN lines verifying both
the legacy "-passname" syntax and the new "-passes=passname" syntax.
Since we switched the default pass manager to "new PM" both RUN lines
have verified the new PM version of the pass (more or less wasting
time running the same test twice), unless LLVM_ENABLE_NEW_PASS_MANAGER
is set to "off". It is assumed that it is enough to run these tests
with the new pass manager now.

4532a50899 Infer alignment of unmarked loads in IR/bitcode parsing.
For IR generated by a compiler, this is really simple: you just take the
datalayout from the beginning of the file, and apply it to all the IR
later in the file. For optimization testcases that don't care about the
datalayout, this is also really simple: we just use the default
datalayout.

The complexity here comes from the fact that some LLVM tools allow
overriding the datalayout: some tools have an explicit flag for this,
some tools will infer a datalayout based on the code generation target.
Supporting this properly required plumbing through a bunch of new
machinery: we want to allow overriding the datalayout after the
datalayout is parsed from the file, but before we use any information
from it. Therefore, IR/bitcode parsing now has a callback to allow tools
to compute the datalayout at the appropriate time.

Not sure if I covered all the LLVM tools that want to use the callback.
(clang? lli? Misc IR manipulation tools like llvm-link?). But this is at
least enough for all the LLVM regression tests, and IR without a
datalayout is not something frontends should generate.

This change had some sort of weird effects for certain CodeGen
regression tests: if the datalayout is overridden with a datalayout with
a different program or stack address space, we now parse IR based on the
overridden datalayout, instead of the one written in the file (or the
default one, if none is specified). This broke a few AVR tests, and one
AMDGPU test.

Outside the CodeGen tests I mentioned, the test changes are all just
fixing CHECK lines and moving around datalayout lines in weird places.

f65f566aeb Re-commit: Mark values as trivially dead when their only use is a start or end lifetime intrinsic.
Summary:
If the only use of a value is a start or end lifetime intrinsic then mark the intrinsic as trivially dead. This should allow for that value to then be removed as well.

Currently, this only works for allocas, globals, and arguments.

1c49553c19 [BasicBlockUtils] Add utility to remove redundant dbg.value instrs
Summary:
Add a RemoveRedundantDbgInstrs to BasicBlockUtils with the
goal to remove redundant dbg intrinsics from a basic block.

This can be useful after various transforms, as it might
be simpler to do a filtering of dbg intrinsics after the
transform than during the transform.
One primary use case would be to replace a too aggressive
removal done by MergeBlockIntoPredecessor, seen at loop
rotate (not done in this patch).

The elimination algorithm currently focuses on dbg.value
intrinsics and is doing two iterations over the BB.

First we iterate backward starting at the last instruction
in the BB. Whenever a consecutive sequence of dbg.value
instructions are found we keep the last dbg.value for
each variable found (variable fragments are identified
using the  {DILocalVariable, FragmentInfo, inlinedAt}
triple as given by the DebugVariable helper class).

Next we iterate forward starting at the first instruction
in the BB. Whenever we find a dbg.value describing a
DebugVariable (identified by {DILocalVariable, inlinedAt})
we save the {DIValue, DIExpression} that describes that
variables value. But if the variable already was mapped
to the same {DIValue, DIExpression} pair we instead drop
the second dbg.value.

To ease the process of making lit tests for this utility a
new pass is introduced called RedundantDbgInstElimination.
It can be executed by opt using -redundant-dbg-inst-elim.

2c74fe977d Add an @llvm.sideeffect intrinsic
This patch implements Chandler's idea [0] for supporting languages that
require support for infinite loops with side effects, such as Rust, providing
part of a solution to bug 965 [1].

Specifically, it adds an `llvm.sideeffect()` intrinsic, which has no actual
effect, but which appears to optimization passes to have obscure side effects,
such that they don't optimize away loops containing it. It also teaches
several optimization passes to ignore this intrinsic, so that it doesn't
significantly impact optimization in most cases.

As discussed on llvm-dev [2], this patch is the first of two major parts.
The second part, to change LLVM's semantics to have defined behavior
on infinite loops by default, with a function attribute for opting into
potential-undefined-behavior, will be implemented and posted for review in
a separate patch.
