c503758ab6 [CodeGen] Use std::pair<MCRegister, Register> to match return from MRI.liveins(). NFC
MachineRegisterInfo::liveins returns std::pair<MCRegister, Register>.
Don't convert to std::pair<unsigned, unsigned>.

[X86] Check if an invoked function clobbers fp or bp (#103446)
In most cases when an instruction or function call clobbers fp and/or bp
register, we can fix it by save/restore the clobbered register. But we
still can't handle it when an invoked function clobbers fp and/or bp
according to its calling convention. This patch detects this case and
reports error instead of silently generating wrong code.

[X86] Speed up checking clobbered FP/BP (#102365)
Most functions don't clobber frame register and base pointer. They are
usually caused by inline asm and function call. So we can record if a
function call clobber FP/BP at lowering phase, and later we can check
the recorded information and return early.

CodeGen: Avoid some references to MachineFunction's getMMI (#99652)
MachineFunction's probably should not include a backreference to
the owning MachineModuleInfo. Most of these references were used
just to query the MCContext, which MachineFunction already directly
stores. Other contexts are using it to query the LLVMContext, which
can already be accessed through the IR function reference.

[AArch64] Don't tail call memset if it would convert to a bzero. (#98969)
Well, not quite that simple. We can tc memset since it returns the first
argument but bzero doesn't do that and therefore we can end up
miscompiling.

This patch also refactors the logic out of isInTailCallPosition() into the callers.
As a result memcpy and memmove are also modified to do the same thing
for consistency.

[ARM/X86] Standardize the isEligibleForTailCallOptimization prototypes (#90688)
Pass in CallLoweringInfo (CLI) instead of passing in the various fields
directly. Also pass in CCState (CCInfo), which is computed in both the
caller and the callee for a minor efficiency saving. There may also be a
small correctness improvement for sibcalls with vectorcall, which has an
odd way of recomputing argument locations.

This is a step towards improving the handling of musttail on armv7,
which we have numerous issues filed about in our tracker.

I took inspiration for this from the RISCV tail call eligibility check,
which uses a similar prototype.

[CallSiteInfo][NFC] CallSiteInfo -> CallSiteInfo.ArgRegPairs (#86842)
CallSiteInfo is originally used only for argument - register pairs. Make
it struct, in which we can store additional data for call sites.

Also, the variables/methods used for CallSiteInfo are named for its
original use case, e.g., CallFwdRegsInfo. Refactor these for the
upcoming
use, e.g. addCallArgsForwardingRegs() -> addCallSiteInfo().

An upcoming patch will add type ids for indirect calls to propogate them
from
middle-end to the back-end. The type ids will be then used to emit the
call
graph section.

New calling convention preserve_none (#76868)
The new experimental calling convention preserve_none is the opposite
side of existing preserve_all. It tries to preserve as few general
registers as possible. So all general registers are caller saved
registers. It can also uses more general registers to pass arguments.
This attribute doesn't impact floating-point registers. Floating-point
registers still follow the c calling convention.

Currently preserve_none is supported on X86-64 only. It changes the c
calling convention in following fields:

* RSP and RBP are the only preserved general registers, all other
general registers are caller saved registers.
* We can use [RDI, RSI, RDX, RCX, R8, R9, R11, R12, R13, R14, R15, RAX]
to pass arguments.

It can improve the performance of hot tailcall chain, because many
callee saved registers' save/restore instructions can be removed if the
tail functions are using preserve_none. In my experiment in protocol
buffer, the parsing functions are improved by 3% to 10%.

[x86_64][windows][swift] do not use Swift async extended frame for wi… (#80468)
…ndows x86_64
targets that use windows 64 prologue

Windows x86_64 stack frame layout is currently not compatible with
Swift's async extended frame, which reserves the slot right below RBP
(RBP-8) for the async context pointer, as it doesn't account for the
fact that a stack object in a win64 frame can be allocated at the same
location. This can cause issues at runtime, for instance, Swift's TCA
test code has functions that fail because of this issue, as they spill a
value to that slack slot, which then gets overwritten by a store into
address returned by the @llvm.swift.async.context.addr() intrinsic (that
ends up being RBP - 8), leading to an incorrect value being used at a
later point when that stack slot is being read from again. This change
drops the use of async extended frame for windows x86_64 subtargets and
instead uses the x32 based approach of allocating a separate stack slot
for the stored async context pointer.

Additionally, LLDB which is the primary consumer of the extended frame
makes assumptions like checking for a saved previous frame pointer at
the current frame pointer address, which is also incompatible with the
windows x86_64 frame layout, as the previous frame pointer is not
guaranteed to be stored at the current frame pointer address. Therefore
the extended frame layout can be turned off to fix the current
miscompile without introducing regression into LLDB for windows x86_64
as it already doesn't work correctly. I am still investigating what
should be made for LLDB to support using an allocated stack slot to
store the async frame context instead of being located at RBP - 8 for
windows.

2a2f02e19f [X86] Use 64-bit jump table entries for large code model PIC
With the large code model, the label difference may not fit into 32 bits.
Even if we assume that any individual function is no larger than 2^32
and use a difference from the function entry to the target destination,
things like BOLT can rearrange blocks (even if BOLT doesn't necessarily
work with the large code model right now).

set directives avoid static relocations in some 32-bit entry cases, but
don't worry about set directives for 64-bit jump table entries (we can
do that later if somebody really cares about it).

check-llvm in a bootstrapped clang with the large code model passes.

26a730821d [X86] Split SDISel call lowering out to its own file
X86ISelLowering takes too long to compile. Split call lowering out into
its own file so that developers working on call lowering can be more
productive.

Now one can test calling convention changes with <5s rebuilds. The rest
of X86ISelLowering still takes a long time to compile. Previous
investigations shows that lots of static functions are aggressively
inlined into the two major large switch functions, LowerOperation and
PerformDAGCombine. It may be possible to make further compile time
improvements by blocking inlining into those large dispatch functions.

clang-format complains, but I didn't want to reformat because it will
make it harder for git rename detection and blame tools.
