Implement a more seamless way to provide missing functions on z/OS (#167703)
In this PR I'm changing the way we provide the missing functions like
strnlen() on z/OS from the separate header file to a wrapper around the
system headers that declare these functions. This will be less
intrusive.

Adding Matching and Inference Functionality to Propeller (#160706)
We have optimized the implementation of introducing the "matching and
inference" technique into Propeller. In this new implementation, we have
made every effort to avoid introducing new compilation parameters while
ensuring compatibility with Propeller's current usage. Instead of
creating a new profile format, we reused the existing one employed by
Propeller. This new implementation is fully compatible with Propeller's
current usage patterns and reduces the amount of code changes. For
detailed information, please refer to the following RFC:

We plan to submit the relevant changes in several pull requests (PRs).
The current one is the first PR, which adds the basic block hash to the
SHT_LLVM_BB_ADDR_MAP section.

[SHT_LLVM_BB_ADDR_MAP] Change the callsite feature to emit end of callsites. (#155041)
This PR simply moves the callsite anchors from the beginning of
callsites to their end.

Emitting the end of callsites is more sensible as it allows breaking the
basic block into subblocks which end with control transfer instructions.

[llvm] add ProfileData to yaml2obj and obj2yaml LLVM_LINK_COMPONENTS (#147344)
## Purpose
Add `ProfileData` to `LLVM_LINK_COMPONENTS` for the `yaml2obj` and
`obj2yaml` tools so they link properly when LLVM is built as a Windows
DLL.

## Background
`ProfileData` appears to be a missing dependency from `yaml2obj` and
`obj2yaml`, but when LLVM is built statically it picks-up the required
`LLVMPasses` symbols from a transitive dependency (presumably). When
LLVM is built as a Windows DLL, `yaml2obj` and `obj2yaml` fail to link 3
symbols from `ProfileData` without this change:

8d7a8fcc3a
[SHT_LLVM_BB_ADDR_MAP] Encode and decode callsite offsets in a newly-introduced SHT_LLVM_BB_ADDR_MAP version. (#144426)
Recently, we have been looking at some optimizations targeting
individual calls. In particular, we plan to extend the address mapping
technique to map to individual callsites. For example, in this piece of
code for a basic blocks:

We want to emit 0x9 as the call site offset for `callq foo` (the offset
from the block entry to right after the call), so that we know if a
sampled address is before the call or after.

This PR implements the decode/encode/emit capability. The Codegen change
will be implemented in a later PR.

[lld][WebAssembly] Support for the custom-page-sizes WebAssembly proposal (#128942)
This commit adds support for WebAssembly's custom-page-sizes proposal to
`wasm-ld`. An overview of the proposal can be found
[here](https://github.com/WebAssembly/custom-page-sizes/blob/main/proposals/custom-page-sizes/Overview.md).
In a sentence, it allows customizing a Wasm memory's page size, enabling
Wasm to target environments with less than 64KiB of memory (the default
Wasm page size) available for Wasm memories.

This commit contains the following:

* Adds a `--page-size=N` CLI flag to `wasm-ld` for configuring the
linked Wasm binary's linear memory's page size.

* When the page size is configured to a non-default value, then the
final Wasm binary will use the encodings defined in the
custom-page-sizes proposal to declare the linear memory's page size.

* Defines a `__wasm_first_page_end` symbol, whose address points to the
first page in the Wasm linear memory, a.k.a. is the Wasm memory's page
size. This allows writing code that is compatible with any page size,
and doesn't require re-compiling its object code. At the same time,
because it just lowers to a constant rather than a memory access or
something, it enables link-time optimization.

* Adds tests for these new features.

Avoid using bitfield in dxbc::ProgramHeader.
It could potentially be read incorrectly on any host depending on the
compiler.

for the name of the entry function as an offset into StringTable data to
a null-terminated utf-8 string.

Additional tests were added to ensure that the new value was properly
serialized/deserialized from object data.

[XCOFF][obj2yaml] Support SymbolAlignmentAndType as 2 separate fields in YAML. (#76828)
XCOFF encodes a symbol type and alignment in a single 8-bit field. It is
easier to read and write YAML files if the fields can be specified
separately. This PR causes obj2yaml to write the fields separately and
allows yaml2obj to read either the single combined field or the separate
fields.

[Object][Wasm] Move WasmSymbolInfo directly into WasmSymbol (NFC) (#80219)
Move the WasmSymbolInfos from their own vector on the WasmLinkingData
directly into the WasmSymbol object. Removing the const-ref to an
external object allows the vector of WasmSymbols to be safely
expanded/reallocated; generating symbol info from the name section will
require this, as the numbers of function and data segment names are
stored separately.

This is a step toward generating symbol information from name sections
for #76107

[SHT_LLVM_BB_ADDR_MAP] Allow basic-block-sections and labels be used together by decoupling the handling of the two features. (#74128)
Today `-split-machine-functions` and `-fbasic-block-sections={all,list}`
cannot be combined with `-basic-block-sections=labels` (the labels
option will be ignored).
The inconsistency comes from the way basic block address map -- the
underlying mechanism for basic block labels -- encodes basic block
addresses
(https://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2020-July/143512.html).
Specifically, basic block offsets are computed relative to the function
begin symbol. This relies on functions being contiguous which is not the
case for MFS and basic block section binaries. This means Propeller
cannot use binary profiles collected from these binaries, which limits
the applicability of Propeller for iterative optimization.
    
To make the `SHT_LLVM_BB_ADDR_MAP` feature work with basic block section
binaries, we propose modifying the encoding of this section as follows.

First let us review the current encoding which emits the address of each
function and its number of basic blocks, followed by basic block entries
for each basic block.

To make this work for basic block sections, we treat each basic block
section similar to a function, except that basic block sections of the
same function must be encapsulated in the same structure so we can map
all of them to their single function.
    
We modify the encoding to first emit the number of basic block sections
(BB ranges) in the function. Then we emit the address map of each basic
block section section as before: the base address of the section, its
number of blocks, and BB entries for its basic block. The first section
in the BB address map is always the function entry section.

The encoding of basic block entries remains as before with the minor
change that each basic block offset is now computed relative to the
begin symbol of its containing BB section.
    
This patch adds a new boolean codegen option `-basic-block-address-map`.
Correspondingly, the front-end flag `-fbasic-block-address-map` and LLD
flag `--lto-basic-block-address-map` are introduced.
Analogously, we add a new TargetOption field `BBAddrMap`. This means BB
address maps are either generated for all functions in the compiling
unit, or for none (depending on `TargetOptions::BBAddrMap`).
    
This patch keeps the functionality of the old
`-fbasic-block-sections=labels` option but does not remove it. A
subsequent patch will remove the obsolete option.

We refactor the `BasicBlockSections` pass by separating the BB address
map and BB sections handing to their own functions (named
`handleBBAddrMap` and `handleBBSections`). `handleBBSections` renumbers
basic blocks and places them in their assigned sections.
`handleBBAddrMap` is invoked after `handleBBSections` (if requested) and
only renumbers the blocks.
  - New tests added:
- Two tests basic-block-address-map-with-basic-block-sections.ll and
basic-block-address-map-with-mfs.ll to exercise the combination of
`-basic-block-address-map` with `-basic-block-sections=list` and
'-split-machine-functions`.
- A driver sanity test for the `-fbasic-block-address-map` option
(basic-block-address-map.c).
- An LLD test for testing the `--lto-basic-block-address-map` option.
This reuses the LLVM IR from `lld/test/ELF/lto/basic-block-sections.ll`.
- Renamed and modified the two existing codegen tests for basic block
address map (`basic-block-sections-labels-functions-sections.ll` and
`basic-block-sections-labels.ll`)
- Removed `SHT_LLVM_BB_ADDR_MAP_V0` tests. Full deprecation of
`SHT_LLVM_BB_ADDR_MAP_V0` and `SHT_LLVM_BB_ADDR_MAP` version less than 2
will happen in a separate PR in a few months.

[WebAssembly] Use ValType instead of integer types to model wasm tables (#78012)
LLVM models some features found in the binary format with raw integers
and others with nested or enumerated types. This PR switches modeling of
tables and segments to use wasm::ValType rather than uint32_t. This NFC
change is in preparation for modeling more reference types, but IMO is
also cleaner and closer to the spec.

4a0ccfa865 Use llvm::endianness::{big,little,native} (NFC)
Note that llvm::support::endianness has been renamed to

[DX] Add support for program signatures (#67346)
For DirectX, program signatures are encoded into three different binary
sections depending on if the signature is for inputs, outputs, or
patches. All three signature types use the same data structure encoding
so they can share a lot of logic.

This patch adds support for reading and writing program signature data
as both yaml and binary data.

[DebugInfo] Change return type of DWARFDebugAbbrev::parse (#67191)
To make DWARFDebugAbbrev more amenable to error-handling, I would like
to change the return type of DWARFDebugAbbrev::parse from `void` to
`Error`. Users of DWARFDebugAbbrev can consume the error if they want to
use all the valid DWARF that was parsed (without worrying about the
malformed DWARF) or stop when the parse fails if the use case needs to
be strict.

This also will bring the LLVM DWARFDebugAbbrev interface closer to
LLDB's which opens up the opportunity for LLDB adopt the LLVM
implementation with minimal changes.

8545093715 [obj2yaml] Emit ProgramHeader.Offset
Currently, obj2yaml doesn't emit the offset of program headers, leaving
it to yaml2obj to calculate offsets based on `FirstSec` and `LastSec`.
This causes an obj2yaml->yaml2obj round trip to often produce an ELF
file that is not equivalent to the original, especially since it seems
common to have program headers at offset 0 whose first section starts at
a higher address. Besides being non-equivalent, the produced ELF files
also do not seem to work propery and readelf complains about them.

Taking a simple hello world program in C, compiled using either GCC or
Clang, the original ELF file has the following program headers (only
showing some relevant ones):

Note that the offset of segment 2 changed from 0x0 to 0x318. This has
two effects:
- readelf complains "Error: the PHDR segment is not covered by a LOAD
  segment" since PHDR was originally covered by segment 2 but not
  anymore;
- Segment 2 effectively became empty according to the section to segment
  mapping.

I addition to these, the output doesn't correctly execute anymore,
crashing with a "SIGSEGV (Address boundary error)".

This patch fixes the difference in program header layout after a round
trip by explicitly emitting offsets.

[DX] Support pipeline state masks (#66425)
The DXContainer pipeline state information encodes a bunch of mask
vectors that are used to track things about the inputs and outputs from
each shader.

This adds support for reading and writing them throught he YAML test
interfaces. The writing logic in MC is extremely primitive and we'll
want to revisit the API for that, but since I'm not sure how we'll want
to generate the mask bits from DXIL during code generation I didn't want
to spend too much time on the API.

file encodes signature elements which are read by the runtime to map
inputs and outputs from the GPU program.

This change adds support for generating and parsing signature elements
with testing driven through the ObjectYAML tooling.

15cfb4494d [macho2yaml] Fixup offset for nodes in export trie.
The offset recorded in export trie nodes is used to capture symbol
information like address and node size. This offset should be relative to the
root of the trie. This updates to `processExportNode` to follow that
expectation.

1b21067cf2 [WebAssembly][Objcopy] Write output section headers identically to inputs
Previously when objcopy generated section headers, it padded the LEB
that encodes the section size out to 5 bytes, matching the behavior of
clang. This is correct, but results in a binary that differs from the
input. This can sometimes have undesirable consequences (e.g. breaking
source maps).

This change makes the object reader remember the size of the LEB
encoding in the section header, so that llvm-objcopy can reproduce it
exactly. For sections not read from an object file (e.g. that
llvm-objcopy is adding itself), pad to 5 bytes.

5fdf860510 [DX] Fix PSV resource serialization
When writing this initially I missed including the resource stride.
This change adds the resources stride to the serialized value.

I've also extended the testing and error reporting around parsing PSV
information. This adds tests to verify that the reader produces
meaningful error messages for malformed DXContainer files, and a test
that verifies the resource stride is respected in the reader even if
the stride isn't an expected or known value (as would happen if the
format changes in the future).

This is part of #59479.
