The motivation is that the update script has at least two deviations
(`<...>@GOT`/`<...>@PLT`/ and not hiding pointer arithmetics) from
what pretty much all the checklines were generated with,
and most of the tests are still not updated, so each time one of the
non-up-to-date tests is updated to see the effect of the code change,
there is a lot of noise. Instead of having to deal with that each
time, let's just deal with everything at once.
This has been done via:
```
cd llvm-project/llvm/test/CodeGen/X86
grep -rl "; NOTE: Assertions have been autogenerated by utils/update_llc_test_checks.py" | xargs -L1 <...>/llvm-project/llvm/utils/update_llc_test_checks.py --llc-binary <...>/llvm-project/build/bin/llc
```
Not all tests were regenerated, however.
This rewrites big parts of the fast register allocator. The basic
strategy of doing block-local allocation hasn't changed but I tweaked
several details:
Track register state on register units instead of physical
registers. This simplifies and speeds up handling of register aliases.
Process basic blocks in reverse order: Definitions are known to end
register livetimes when walking backwards (contrary when walking
forward then uses may or may not be a kill so we need heuristics).
Check register mask operands (calls) instead of conservatively
assuming everything is clobbered. Enhance heuristics to detect
killing uses: In case of a small number of defs/uses check if they are
all in the same basic block and if so the last one is a killing use.
Enhance heuristic for copy-coalescing through hinting: We check the
first k defs of a register for COPYs rather than relying on there just
being a single definition. When testing this on the full llvm
test-suite including SPEC externals I measured:
average 5.1% reduction in code size for X86, 4.9% reduction in code on
aarch64. (ranging between 0% and 20% depending on the test) 0.5%
faster compiletime (some analysis suggests the pass is slightly slower
than before, but we more than make up for it because later passes are
faster with the reduced instruction count)
Also adds a few testcases that were broken without this patch, in
particular bug 47278.

We allocated a suitably aligned frame index so we know that all the values
have ABI alignment.
For MIPS this avoids using pair of lwl + lwr instructions instead of a
single lw. I found this when compiling CHERI pure capability code where
we can't use the lwl/lwr unaligned loads/stores and and were to falling
back to a byte load + shift + or sequence.
This should save a few instructions for MIPS and possibly other backends
that don't have fast unaligned loads/stores.
It also improves code generation for CodeGen/X86/pr34653.ll and
CodeGen/WebAssembly/offset.ll since they can now use aligned loads.

The unseen logic diff occurs because MayFoldLoad() is defined like this:
static bool MayFoldLoad(SDValue Op) {
return Op.hasOneUse() && ISD::isNormalLoad(Op.getNode());
}
The test diffs here all seem ok to me on screen/paper, but it's hard to know
if that will lead to universally better perf for all targets. For example,
if a target implements broadcast from mem as multiple uops, we would have to
weigh the potential reduction of instructions and register pressure vs.
possible increase in number of uops. I don't know if we can make a truly
informed decision on this at compile-time.
The motivating case that I'm looking at in PR42024:
https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42024
...resembles the diff in extract-concat.ll, but we're not going to change the
larger example there without at least 1 other fix.

This is a long-awaited follow-up suggested in D33578. Since then, we've picked up even more
opportunities for vector narrowing from changes like D53784, so there are a lot of test diffs.
Apart from 2-3 strange cases, these are all wins.
I've structured this to be no-functional-change-intended for any target except for x86
because I couldn't tell if AArch64, ARM, and AMDGPU would improve or not. All of those
targets have existing regression tests (4, 4, 10 files respectively) that would be
affected. Also, Hexagon overrides the shouldReduceLoadWidth() hook, but doesn't show
any regression test diffs. The trade-off is deciding if an extra vector load is better
than a single wide load + extract_subvector.
For x86, this is almost always better (on paper at least) because we often can fold
loads into subsequent ops and not increase the official instruction count. There's also
some unknown -- but potentially large -- benefit from using narrower vector ops if wide
ops are implemented with multiple uops and/or frequency throttling is avoided.

Set `LiveReg::PhysReg` to zero when freeing a register instead of
removing it from the entry from `LiveRegMap`. This way no iterators get
invalidated and we can avoid passing around and updating iterators all
over the place.
This does not change any allocator decisions. It is not completely NFC
because the arbitrary iteration order through `LiveRegMap` in
`spillAll()` changes so we may get a different order in those spill
sequences (the amount of spills does not change).

Enable enableMultipleCopyHints() on X86.
Original Patch by @jonpa:
While enabling the mischeduler for SystemZ, it was discovered that for some reason a test needed one extra seemingly needless COPY (test/CodeGen/SystemZ/call-03.ll). The handling for that is resulted in this patch, which improves the register coalescing by providing not just one copy hint, but a sorted list of copy hints. On SystemZ, this gives ~12500 less register moves on SPEC, as well as marginally less spilling.
Instead of improving just the SystemZ backend, the improvement has been implemented in common-code (calculateSpillWeightAndHint(). This gives a lot of test failures, but since this should be a general improvement I hope that the involved targets will help and review the test updates.

This patch aims to provide correct dwarf unwind information in function
epilogue for X86.
It consists of two parts. The first part inserts CFI instructions that set
appropriate cfa offset and cfa register in emitEpilogue() in
X86FrameLowering. This part is X86 specific.
The second part is platform independent and ensures that:
* CFI instructions do not affect code generation (they are not counted as
instructions when tail duplicating or tail merging)
* Unwind information remains correct when a function is modified by
different passes. This is done in a late pass by analyzing information
about cfa offset and cfa register in BBs and inserting additional CFI
directives where necessary.
Added CFIInstrInserter pass:
* analyzes each basic block to determine cfa offset and register are valid
at its entry and exit
* verifies that outgoing cfa offset and register of predecessor blocks match
incoming values of their successors
* inserts additional CFI directives at basic block beginning to correct the
rule for calculating CFA
Having CFI instructions in function epilogue can cause incorrect CFA
calculation rule for some basic blocks. This can happen if, due to basic
block reordering, or the existence of multiple epilogue blocks, some of the
blocks have wrong cfa offset and register values set by the epilogue block
above them.
CFIInstrInserter is currently run only on X86, but can be used by any target
that implements support for adding CFI instructions in epilogue.

This reverts r317579, originally committed as r317100.
There is a design issue with marking CFI instructions duplicatable. Not
all targets support the CFIInstrInserter pass, and targets like Darwin
can't cope with duplicated prologue setup CFI instructions. The compact
unwind info emission fails.
When the following code is compiled for arm64 on Mac at -O3, the CFI
instructions end up getting tail duplicated, which causes compact unwind
info emission to fail:
int a, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m;
void n(int o, int *b) {
if (g)
f = 0;
for (; f < o; f++) {
m = a;
if (l > j * k > i)
j = i = k = d;
h = b[c] - e;
}
}
We get assembly that looks like this:
