Similar for RISCV::parseTuneCPU and RISCV::checkTuneCPUKind.
This makes the CPUKind enum no longer part of the API. It wasn't
providing much value. It was only used to pass between the two
functions.
By removing it, we can remove a dependency on a tablegen generated
file from the RISCVTargetParser.h file. Then we can remove a
dependency from several CMakeLists.txt.
The previous code structure and comments were exceedingly confusing. I have multiple times looked at this code and suspected a bug. This time, I decided to take the time to reflow the code and comment out why it is correct.
The only suspect (to me) case left is that an underaligned access with a unit stride (in terms of the access type) might miss the undefined null pointer when wrapping. This is unlikely to be an issue for C/C++ code with real page sizes, so I'm not bothering to fully convince myself whether that case is correct or not.
RISCVTargetParser.h has a dependency on a tablegen generated file.
Using RISCVISAInfo.h instead avoids this dependency.
We just need this constant somewhere visible to the frontend and
backend and I'm trying to avoid adding a header just for it.
This is stricter than the default "ieee", and should probably be the
default. This patch leaves the default alone. I can change this in a
future patch.
There are non-reversible transforms I would like to perform which are
legal under IEEE denormal handling, but illegal with flushing zero
behavior. Namely, conversions between llvm.is.fpclass and fcmp with
zeroes.
Under "ieee" handling, it is legal to translate between
llvm.is.fpclass(x, fcZero) and fcmp x, 0.
Under "preserve-sign" handling, it is legal to translate between
llvm.is.fpclass(x, fcSubnormal|fcZero) and fcmp x, 0.
I would like to compile and distribute some math library functions in
a mode where it's callable from code with and without denormals
enabled, which requires not changing the compares with denormals or
zeroes.
If an IEEE function transforms an llvm.is.fpclass call into an fcmp 0,
it is no longer possible to call the function from code with denormals
enabled, or write an optimization to move the function into a denormal
flushing mode. For the original function, if x was a denormal, the
class would evaluate to false. If the function compiled with denormal
handling was converted to or called from a preserve-sign function, the
fcmp now evaluates to true.
This could also be of use for strictfp handling, where code may be
changing the denormal mode.
Alternative name could be "unknown".
Replaces the old AMDGPU custom inlining logic with more conservative
logic which tries to permit inlining for callees with dynamic handling
and avoids inlining other mismatched modes.

AutoFDO/CSSPGO often has to deal with stale profiles collected on binaries built from several revisions behind release. It’s likely to get incorrect profile annotations using the stale profile, which results in unstable or low performing binaries. Currently for source location based profile, once a code change causes a profile mismatch, all the locations afterward are mismatched, the affected samples or inlining info are lost. If we can provide a matching framework to reuse parts of the mismatched profile - aka incremental PGO, it will make PGO more stable, also increase the optimization coverage and boost the performance of binary.
This patch is the part 1 of stale profile matching, summary of the implementation:
- Added a structure for the matching result:`LocToLocMap`, which is a location to location map meaning the location of current build is matched to the location of the previous build(to be used to query the “stale” profile).
- In order to use the matching results for sample query, we need to pass them to all the location queries. For code cleanliness, we added a new pointer field(`IRToProfileLocationMap`) to `FunctionSamples`.
- Added a wrapper(`mapIRLocToProfileLoc`) for the query to the location, the location from input IR will be remapped to the matched profile location.
- Added a new switch `--salvage-stale-profile`.
- Some refactoring for the staleness detection.
Test case is in part 2 with the matching algorithm.

When a user uses a mismatched clang + llvm-profdata, they didn't get a very
informative error message. It would just say "unsupported version".
As a result, users are often confused as to what they are supposed to do and
tend to assume that it's a bug in the profiling runtime.
This patch improves the error message by:
- Adding a new class of error (`raw_profile_version_mismatch`) to make it clear
that, specifically, the *raw profile* version is unsupported because of a
tool mismatch.
- Adding an error message that tells the user which raw profile version was
encountered, which version was expected, and instructs them to align their
tool versions.
To support this, this patch also updates `InstrProfError::take` to also
propagate the optional error message.

This reverts commit 10c17c97ebaf81ac26f6830e51a7a57ddcf63cd2. It causes undefined symbol error on chromium windows build. A small repro was uploaded to the code review.
"vpmaddwd + vpaddd" can be combined to vpdpwssd and the latency is
reduced after combination. However when vpdpwssd is in a critical path
the combination get less ILP. It happens when vpdpwssd is in a loop, the
vpmaddwd can be executed in parallel in multi-iterations while vpdpwssd
has data dependency for each iterations. If vpaddd is in a critical path
while vpmaddwd is not, it is profitable to split vpdpwssd into "vpmaddwd
+ vpaddd".
This patch is based on the machine combiner framework to acheive decision
on "vpmaddwd + vpaddd" combination. The typical example code is as
below.
```
__m256i foo(int cnt, __m256i c, __m256i b, __m256i *p) {
for (int i = 0; i < cnt; ++i) {
__m256i a = p[i];
__m256i m = _mm256_madd_epi16 (b, a);
c = _mm256_add_epi32(m, c);
}
return c;
This patch introduces a generic implementation of mem2reg on
unstructured control-flow, along with a specialization for LLVM IR. This
is achieved by defining three new interfaces, representing 1. allocating
operations, 2. operations doing memory accesses, 3. operations that can
be rewired and/or deleted to stop using a specific use.
The file containing the core implementation of the algorithm
(`Mem2Reg.cpp`) contains a detailed explanation of how the algorithm
works. The contract for this pass is that given a memory slot with a
single non-aliased pointer, the pass will either remove all the uses of
the pointer or not change anything.
To help review this patch, I recommend starting by looking at the
interfaces defined in `Mem2Reg.td`, along with their reference
implementation for LLVM IR defined in `LLVMMem2Reg.cpp`. Then, the core
algorithm is implemented in `Mem2Reg.cpp`.
If this is all good I also have an implementation of the interfaces for
0-dimensional memref promotion that I can upstream afterwards.
This patch addresses 2 problems:
- In `ShuffleBlockStrategy`, when `BB` is an EHPad, `BB.getFirstInsertionPt()` will return `BB.end()`, which cannot be dereferenced and will cause crash in following loop.
- In `isCompatibleReplacement`, a call instruction's callee might be replaced by a pointer, causing 2 subproblems:
- we cannot guarantee that the pointer is a function pointer (even if it is, we cannot guarantee it matches the signature).
- after such a replacement, `getCalledFunction` will from then on return `nullptr` (since it's indirect call) which causes Segmentation Fault in the lines below.
This patch fixes the first problem by checking if a block to be mutated is an EHPad in base class `IRMutationStrategy` and skipping mutating it if so.
This patch fixes the second problem by avoiding replacing callee with pointer and adding a null check for indirect calls.
