At some corner cases, the cloned MI still retains an old slot index,
which leads to the compiler crashing. This patch update the slot index
map before delete the recycled MI.

An optimization was added that tries to move the uses of the mflr
instruction away from the instruction itself. However, this doesn't work
when we are using the hashst instruction because that instruction needs
to be run before the stack frame is obtained.
This patch disables moving instructions away from the mflr in the case
where ROP protection is being used.

This patch is in preparation to enable setting the MachineInstr::MIFlag
flags, i.e. FrameSetup/FrameDestroy, on callee saved register
spill/reload instructions in prologue/epilogue. This eventually helps in
setting the prologue_end and epilogue_begin markers more accurately.
The DWARF Spec in "6.4 Call Frame Information" says:
The code that allocates space on the call frame stack and performs the
save
operation is called the subroutine’s prologue, and the code that
performs
the restore operation and deallocates the frame is called its epilogue.
which means the callee saved register spills and reloads are part of
prologue (a.k.a frame setup) and epilogue (a.k.a frame destruction),
respectively. And, IIUC, LLVM backend uses FrameSetup/FrameDestroy flags
to identify instructions that are part of call frame setup and
destruction.
In the trunk, while most targets consistently set
FrameSetup/FrameDestroy on save/restore call frame information (CFI)
instructions of callee saved registers, they do not consistently set
those flags on the actual callee saved register spill/reload
instructions.
I believe this patch provides a clean mechanism to set
FrameSetup/FrameDestroy flags on the actual callee saved register
spill/reload instructions as needed. And, by having default argument of
MachineInstr::NoFlags for Flags, this patch is a NFC.
With this patch, the targets have to just pass FrameSetup/FrameDestroy
flag to the storeRegToStackSlot/loadRegFromStackSlot calls from the
target derived spillCalleeSavedRegisters and restoreCalleeSavedRegisters
to set those flags on callee saved register spill/reload instructions.
Also, this patch makes it very easy to set the source line information
on callee saved register spill/reload instructions which is needed by
the DwarfDebug.cpp implementation to set prologue_end and epilogue_begin
markers more accurately.
As per DwarfDebug.cpp implementation:
prologue_end is the first known non-DBG_VALUE and non-FrameSetup
location
that marks the beginning of the function body
epilogue_begin is the first FrameDestroy location that has been seen in
the
epilogue basic block
With this patch, the targets have to just do the following to set the
source line information on callee saved register spill/reload
instructions, without hampering the LLVM's efforts to avoid adding
source line information on the artificial code generated by the
compiler.
<Foo>InstrInfo::storeRegToStackSlot() {
...
DebugLoc DL =
Flags & MachineInstr::FrameSetup ? DebugLoc() : MBB.findDebugLoc(I);
...
}
<Foo>InstrInfo::loadRegFromStackSlot() {
...
DebugLoc DL =
Flags & MachineInstr::FrameDestroy ? MBB.findDebugLoc(I) : DebugLoc();
...
}
While I understand this patch would break out-of-tree backend builds, I
think it is in the right direction.
One immediate use case that can benefit from this patch is fixing
#120553 becomes simpler.
https://reviews.llvm.org/D111433 introduced PPCISD::CALL_RM for
-frounding-math. -msecure-plt -frounding-math {-fpic,-fPIC} codegen for
PPC32 became incorrect when a function contains function calls but no
global variable references (GlobalBaseReg).
As reported by @q66 , musl/src/dirent/closedir.c implements such a
function, which is miscompiled.
PPCISD::CALL has custom logic to set up the base register
(https://reviews.llvm.org/D42112). Add an extra case for CALL_RM.
While here, improve the test to
* actually test `case PPCISD::CALL`: we need a non-leaf function that
doesn't access global variables (global variables lead to
GlobalBaseReg, which call `getGlobalBaseReg()` as well).
* test `ExternalSymbolSDNode` with a memset.

`RegisterClassInfo::getRegPressureSetLimit` is a wrapper of
`TargetRegisterInfo::getRegPressureSetLimit` with some logics to
adjust the limit by removing reserved registers.
It seems that we shouldn't use
`TargetRegisterInfo::getRegPressureSetLimit`
directly, just like the comment "This limit must be adjusted
dynamically for reserved registers" said.
Separate from https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/pull/118787
https://reviews.llvm.org/D95518 used switchSectionNoPrint,
which seems buggy as .ll -> .s -> .o will be different from
.ll -> .o, but this change intends to be a NFC.
AIX assembly is very different from the gas syntax. We don't expect
other targets to share these differences. Unify the numerous,
essentially AIX-specific variables.
With this change, targets are no longer required to put memory / strict-fp opcodes after special
`ISD::FIRST_TARGET_MEMORY_OPCODE`/`ISD::FIRST_TARGET_STRICTFP_OPCODE` markers.
This will also allow autogenerating `isTargetMemoryOpcode`/`isTargetStrictFPOpcode (#119709).

SDNode::use_iterator now returns an SDUse& when dereferenced.
SDNode::user_iterator returns SDNode*. SDNode::use_begin/use_end/uses
work on use_iterator. SDNode::user_begin/user_end/users work on
user_iterator.
We can now write range based for loops using SDUse& and SDNode::uses().
I've converted many of these in this patch. I didn't update loops that
have additional variables updated in their for statement.
Some loops use SDNode::use_iterator::getOperandNo() which also prevents
using range based for loops. I plan to move this into SDUse in a follow
up patch.
Most of these are just places that want the first user and aren't
iterating over the whole list.
While there I changed some use_size() == 1 to hasOneUse() which
is more efficient.
This is part of an effort to rename use_iterator to user_iterator
and provide a use_iterator that dereferences to SDUse&. This patch
helps reduce the diff on later patches.
This function is most often used in range based loops or algorithms
where the iterator is implicitly dereferenced. The dereference returns
an SDNode * of the user rather than SDUse * so users() is a better name.
I've long beeen annoyed that we can't write a range based loop over
SDUse when we need getOperandNo. I plan to rename use_iterator to
user_iterator and add a use_iterator that returns SDUse& on dereference.
This will make it more like IR.
When arguments are passed in memory instead of registers we currently
load the entire pointer size even though the argument may be smaller.
For exmaple if the pointer size if i32 then we use a load word even if
the argument is only an i8. This patch zeros / extends the bits that are
not required to ensure that we are getting the correct value even if the
load is larger.
These properties are only valid on ComplexPatterns. Having them as flags
is more convenient because one can now use "let = ... in" syntax to set
these flags on several patterns at a time. This is also less error-prone
as it makes it impossible to specify these properties on records derived
from SDPatternOperator.

The patch fix https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/issues/116061
The root cause of the assertion is that the FMA mutation pass does not
update the subranges of the live interval for the defined register of
the modified instruction .
it recalculate the live interval of the defined register of xvmaddmdp in
the VSX FMA mutation pass.
I want to use this function for GISel too so Type * is a better common
interface. All of the callers already convert EVT to Type * as needed
by calling lowering anyway.
All of these immediates are signed, as the surrounding comments
indicate. This fixes an assertion failure in
CodeGen/Generic/dag-combine-ossfuzz-crash.ll when run with a
powerpc-aix triple.
Fix all the places I could find that did't do this. We were already
mostly correct for FP_ROUND after
9a976f36615dbe15e76c12b22f711b2e597a8e51, but not STRICT_FP_ROUND.
This is to prevent assertion failures when we disable implicit
truncation in getConstant().
getCanonicalConstSplat() works with a mix of unsigned and signed values,
so I explicitly truncate the APInt there.
Nodes created with `getMemIntrinsicNode` have memory operands. In order
for operands to be propagated to machine instructions, the nodes should
have `SDNPMemOperand` property.

Following discussions in #110443, and the following earlier discussions
in https://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2017-October/117907.html,
https://reviews.llvm.org/D38482, https://reviews.llvm.org/D38489, this
PR attempts to overhaul the `TargetMachine` and `LLVMTargetMachine`
interface classes. More specifically:
1. Makes `TargetMachine` the only class implemented under
`TargetMachine.h` in the `Target` library.
2. `TargetMachine` contains target-specific interface functions that
relate to IR/CodeGen/MC constructs, whereas before (at least on paper)
it was supposed to have only IR/MC constructs. Any Target that doesn't
want to use the independent code generator simply does not implement
them, and returns either `false` or `nullptr`.
3. Renames `LLVMTargetMachine` to `CodeGenCommonTMImpl`. This renaming
aims to make the purpose of `LLVMTargetMachine` clearer. Its interface
was moved under the CodeGen library, to further emphasis its usage in
Targets that use CodeGen directly.
4. Makes `TargetMachine` the only interface used across LLVM and its
projects. With these changes, `CodeGenCommonTMImpl` is simply a set of
shared function implementations of `TargetMachine`, and CodeGen users
don't need to static cast to `LLVMTargetMachine` every time they need a
CodeGen-specific feature of the `TargetMachine`.
5. More importantly, does not change any requirements regarding library
linking.

Commit 93589057830b2c3c35500ee8cac25c717a1e98f9 was reverted because it
caused a failure with test `lld :: ELF/ppc64-local-exec-tls.s`. This
relands the commit with a fix for the test.
If an instruction doesn't support memory operands, but one is provided,
an error should be raised. And conversely, if an instruction requires a
memory operand, but none is given, an error should be raised.
This patch fixes the combines for vector_shuffles when either or both of
its left and right hand side inputs are scalar_to_vector nodes.
Previously, when both left and right side inputs are scalar_to_vector
nodes, the current combine could not handle this situation, as the shuffle
mask was updated incorrectly. To temporarily solve this solution, this combine
was simply disabled and not performed.
Now, not only does this patch aim to resolve the previous issue of the
incorrect shuffle mask adjustments respectively, but it also updates any test
cases that are affected by this change.
Patch migrated from https://reviews.llvm.org/D130487.
This patch utilizes getReservedRegs() to find asm clobberable registers.
And to make the result of getReservedRegs() accurate, this patch
implements the todo, which is to make r2 allocatable on AIX for some
leaf functions.
