This mostly handles folding of constants that have already become loads, but we expose some generic load cases as well.
This also exposes the chance to merge unary shuffles across X86ISD::ANDNP nodes with different scalar widths
This completes the removal of uses of SelectionDAG::getSplatValue started in D119090 - by avoiding extracting the splatted element we make it a lot easier to zero-extend the bottom 64-bits of the shift amount and fixes issues we had on 32-bit targets where i64 isn't legal.
I've removed the old version of getTargetVShiftNode that took the scalar shift amount argument and LowerRotate can finally efficiently handle vXi16 rotates-by-scalar (using the same code as general funnel-shifts).
The only regression we see is in the X86-AVX2 PR52719 test case in vector-shift-ashr-256.ll - this is now hitting the same problem as the X86-AVX1 case (failure to simplify a multi-use X86ISD::VBROADCAST_LOAD) which I intend to address in a follow up patch.
Using getSplatValue causes poor codegen due to not always being able to remove the EXTRACT_VECTOR_ELT created inside getSplatValue.
The vXi16 shifts/rotates are still showing occasional regressions but vXi8 is a definite improvement.
Currently we create register mappings for registers used only once in current
MBB. For registers with multiple uses, when all the uses are in the current MBB,
we can also create mappings for them similarly according to the last use.
For example
%reg101 = ...
= ... reg101
%reg103 = ADD %reg101, %reg102
We can create mapping between %reg101 and %reg103.

If we've only demanded the 0'th element, and it comes from a (one-use) AND, try to convert the zero_extend_vector_inreg into a mask and constant fold it with the AND.
Shows failure to fold zero_extend_vector_inreg(and(x, c)) -> bitcast(and(x,c')) when we're only demanding the 0'th extended element, such as with the SSE variable shift ops.
Enable FoldConstantArithmetic to constant fold bitcasted constant build vectors. These have typically been bitcasted for type legalization purposes.
By extracting the raw constant bit data, performing the constant fold, and then casting the constant bit data back to the (legalized) type, we can perform constant folding on integer types after legalization.
This in particular helps 32-bit targets which need to handle vXi64 build vectors - during legalization the (unsupported) i64 elements are split to create a bitcasted v2Xi32 build vector.
Addresses some regressions in D113192.

This patch contains following enhancements to SrcRegMap and DstRegMap:
1 In findOnlyInterestingUse not only check if the Reg is two address usage,
but also check after commutation can it be two address usage.
2 If a physical register is clobbered, remove SrcRegMap entries that are
mapped to it.
3 In processTiedPairs, when create a new COPY instruction, add a SrcRegMap
entry only when the COPY instruction is coalescable. (The COPY src is
killed)
With these enhancements isProfitableToCommute can do better commute decision,
and finally more register copies are removed.

Generalize the shuffle(not(x)) -> not(shuffle(x)) fold to handle any binop with 0/-1.
Hopefully we can further generalize to help push target unary/binary shuffles through binops similar to what we do in DAGCombiner::visitVECTOR_SHUFFLE
If the mask input to getV4X86ShuffleImm8 only refers to a single source element (+ undefs) then canonicalize to a full broadcast.
getV4X86ShuffleImm8 defaults to inline values for undefs, which can be useful for shuffle widening/narrowing but does leave SimplifyDemanded* calls thinking the shuffle depends on unnecessary elements.
I'm still investigating what we should do more generally to avoid these undemanded elements, but broadcast cases was a simpler win.
If we lower a v2i64 shuffle to PSHUFD, we currently clamp undef elements to 0, (elements 0,1 of the v4i32) which can result in the shuffle referencing more elements of the source vector than expected, affecting later shuffle combines and KnownBits/SimplifyDemanded calls.
By ensuring we widen the undef mask element we allow getV4X86ShuffleImm8 to use inline elements as the default, which are more likely to fold.
I think this mostly looks ok. The only weird thing I noticed was
a couple rotate vXi8 tests picked up an extra logic op where we have
(and (or (and), (andn)), X). Previously we matched the (or (and), (andn))
to vpternlog, but now we match the (and (or), X) and leave the and/andn
unmatched.
binop (splat X), (splat C) --> splat (binop X, C)
binop (splat C), (splat X) --> splat (binop C, X)
We do this in IR, and there's a similar fold for the case with 2
non-constant operands just above the code diff in this patch.
This was discussed in D79718, and the extra shuffle in the test
(llvm/test/CodeGen/X86/vector-fshl-128.ll::sink_splatvar) where it
was noticed disappears because demanded elements analysis is no
longer blocked. The large majority of the test diffs seem to be
benign code scheduling changes, but I do see another type of win:
moving the splat later allows binop narrowing in some cases.
Regressions were avoided on x86 and ARM with the INSERT_VECTOR_ELT
restriction.

This enables the register to be changed from XMM/YMM/ZMM0 to
instead match the other source. This prevents a false
dependency.
I added all the integer unpck instructions, but the tests
only show changes for BW and WD.
Unfortunately, we can have undef on operand 1 or 2 of the AVX
instructions. This breaks the interface with hasUndefRegUpdate
which used to tell which operand to check.
Now we scan the input operands looking for an undef register and
then ask hasUndefRegUpdate if its an instruction we care about
and which operands of that instruction we care about.
I also had to make some changes to the load folding code to
always pass operand 1 to hasUndefRegUpdate. I've updated
hasUndefRegUpdate to return false when ForLoadFold is set for
instructions that are not explicitly blocked for load folding in
isel patterns.
Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D79615
This seems to be causing some performance regresions that I'm
trying to investigate.
One thing that stands out is that this transform can increase
the live range of the operands of the earlier logic op. This
can be bad for register allocation. If there are two logic
op inputs we should really combine the one that is closest, but
SelectionDAG doesn't have a good way to do that. Maybe we need
to do this as a basic block transform in Machine IR.
llvm-svn: 373401
There's room from improvement here, but this is a decent
starting point.
There are a few minor regressions in the vector-rotate tests,
where we are now forming a vpternlog from an and before we get
a chance to form it for a bitselect that we were matching
previously. This results in an AND and an ANDN feeding the
vpternlog where previously we just had an AND after the
vpternlog. I think we can probably DAG combine the AND with
the bitselect to get back to similar codegen.
llvm-svn: 373172
The PPC test with 2 extra uses seems clearly better by avoiding this transform.
With 1 extra use, we also prevent an extra register move (although that might
be an RA problem). The general rule should be to only make a change here if
it is always profitable. The x86 diffs are all neutral.

As we're dealing with signed values, we have to handle shift by zero and shift by one special cases, so XOP+AVX2/AVX512 splitting/extension is still a better solution - really we should still use ISD::MULHS if one of the special cases are used but for now I've just left a TODO and filtered by isKnownNeverZero.

Enable enableMultipleCopyHints() on X86.
Original Patch by @jonpa:
While enabling the mischeduler for SystemZ, it was discovered that for some reason a test needed one extra seemingly needless COPY (test/CodeGen/SystemZ/call-03.ll). The handling for that is resulted in this patch, which improves the register coalescing by providing not just one copy hint, but a sorted list of copy hints. On SystemZ, this gives ~12500 less register moves on SPEC, as well as marginally less spilling.
Instead of improving just the SystemZ backend, the improvement has been implemented in common-code (calculateSpillWeightAndHint(). This gives a lot of test failures, but since this should be a general improvement I hope that the involved targets will help and review the test updates.

This commit breaks target that don't model all the register constraints
in TableGen. So far the workaround was to set the

For instance, when mutating an instruction (like in the lowering of

This patch checks for simpler PSHUFLW+PSHUFD and PSHUFHW+PSHUFD cases beforehand, building on some existing code that just handled splat shuffles.
By doing so we also prevent premature use of PSHUFB shuffles which can be slower and require the creation/loading of constant shuffle masks.
